That black box art model is NOT an ESV. The quarter panel behind the door would be much longer if it was one of those.

Yeah....I think that's been pretty well established.

The point is that what's shown on the new (red) box art isn't going to be what's ACTUALLY in the box, as shown in the earlier box art with the actual photo of the black built model...

The Escalade ESV (suburban length) is actually a thing, and it appears they did the same as the recent version of the Impala SS and just chose an image to copy, without realizing they chose the wrong version of the Escalade.

Thanks Chuck! I think the difference is that this is an actual box art model accurately representing the contents while the other one shown in red is an artist's rendering and some liberties were taken with the body dimensions to give the illusion of it being a larger vehicle (Suburban-like).

Terry, Mike, Rich & Rob - all correct.  That's definitely an ESV in the reissue illustration, and the 2004 release was not one of those.

boxart for the upcoming Escallade reissue, and unless Revell retooled the Escallade kit, which I doubt, it has an issue.

Just got word today that the first shipments of the "new" US Revell are expected to begin in late September.  The Grease 48 Ford should be the first up of the last batch of announced new kits, with restocks of the Broncos and Foose FD-100 pickup in early October and looks like the 69 Boss 302 will be out in November.

Note this is all stuff molded in China, so unrelated to the original posting in this thread.

To add to what Brett mentioned, from this article, dated 9/11/2018:  http://www.finescale.com/online-extras/extra-articles/2018/09/revell-usa-is-back

"Revell Inc.’s offices were closed in April after Hobbico, which owned Revell, declared bankruptcy and sold Revell’s assets to a German investment group that consolidated the business under Revell Germany , where all engineering and product development will now occur. Aguilera said sales and marketing for the US market will take place in the Illinois office.

He said the US distribution channel will be much as it was before the ownership change and before Hobbico’s closure. Included will be Horizon Hobby in Champaign, Ill., which bought much of Hobbico’s facilities and its radio-control product lines.

Aguilera also added that Revell Germany products will begin arriving at the US warehouse within a few weeks to expand the US product line. A lot of new items are in the development pipeline too, he said, estimating about 60 products in production, including the restock of existing items and production of new releases."

Bring on the Baja Bandito......

Hopefully this and some others.  From the Tom Daniel website  http://www.tomdaniel.com/TD_sez/td_message.html

Fans & collectors of Tom Daniel/Monogram Models hobby kits will be happy to know an American Company - ATLANTIS Models - of Deer Park, New York, has purchased all but five of the tooling - from the German Company that bought all of the Revell-Monogram assets, including the tooling for TD kits.

Future re releases of Monogram/Tom Daniel model kits will once again be made in the U.S.A., which means starting in 2019, my model kit designs will again be available in the TD Store!

STAY TUNED!

I'd sure like to see TD's Lil Van remade back into the Sand Crab! I've got both, but it'd be nice to see these once again in fresh plastic and new boxes! B)

Auspiciously worded statements like this literally make my head hurt.  The way that reads it makes it sounds like Atlantis bought all but 5 of the total tools that Revell/Monogram owned - period.  It's a laughably and demonstratively false statement to even say that bought all but 5 of the U.S. based tooling.  So that means they bought all but 5 of the TD pieces of tooling, which makes actual sense since we know Blitzvell is currently shipping the Rommell's Rod, you'd presume the Baja (Beast) Bandito is another tool they kept since that was part of the slate of planned reissues as well.

The thing that makes it so face desky is that Tom HAS to know what he's licensed to Blitzvell...doesn't he? Or is everything on agent autopilot and he's just bumbling around unaware of who owns what of his and he just gets a check at the end of the month.  I mean he does have licensing out to Mattel and Round2 as well and it has be a lot to keep track of...

Since the statement came from Tom Daniel about Tom Daniel I think we can assume he is referencing ONLY Tom Daniel molds/tooling.

Pretty clear I think/hope.....

So will any kits be made in Illinois any more?

No, it doesn't sound like any molds remain in Illinois.

Unfortunately, the statement from TD's page isn't very clearly worded.  I agree with Dave in that it's probably safe to assume Tom Daniel meant  to say Atlantis acquired all of the Tom Daniel-designed kit molds, except for the five which Blitz kept, but there's too much ambiguity in the statement to take that as fact.

all but five

So, if we roll with the assumption that all but five molds for Tom Daniel designed kits went to Atlantis, that leaves which five still in the possession of Revell U.S.A.? The two currently in the Revell catalog, as James mentioned, listed first, and the other three listed below?

1) Rommel's Rod

2) Baja Bandito

3) Circus Wagon (last reissued in 2009, made in China)

4) Tijuana Taxi (last issued in 2009, made in China)

5) Beer Wagon (last reissued in 2016, made in China)

Partial/incomplete list of kits molded in the U.S. when last reissued, so should now be in the possession of Atlantis:

Ice-T

Cherry Bomb

Rommel's, TJ Taxi, Circus Dragon Wagon are all new China tools so that makes sense. The Beer and Baja in China is kinda logical too.

The real question is how many TD molds are intact and usable??? That's what I'll wait to hear about!!!

There has to be more than five TD kit tools in China.  I've got a Badman kit that was molded there.  The Jinx Express reissue was molded here, though.

Honestly, If any company decided to make one, my bet would be on Meng since they seem to be focusing on American trucks and SUVs. It would be cool to see a full detail kit of the current Escalade, complete with the 6.0 V8 and maybe two wheel options like the F-350 had.

Just to pick at nits, the current 2015-2019 Escalade runs the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8, not the old Vortec 6L boat anchor.

And if someone wanted to go crazy, there are 11 factory wheel options on the Escalade!

Possible good news today. I work at the Brookfield, WI Hobby Lobby. We get our supply truck on Friday mornings.  I was talking to our driver and she said her next stop was in the Chicago area, to pick up 25 pallets of Revell kits to tak to our main warehouse in Oklahoma.

Someone on the Coffin Corner posted this today:

"Just got this off FB today ???? GOOD AFTERNOON everyone ! Some cool news to pass on , straight from the man himself ( Mr. Tom Daniels ! ) The new Revell Germany merger will have a separate line called :Revell USA LLC. They will be releasing in the first 1/4 of 2019 the TDs classic's " Baja Bandito " and " Rommel's Rod " Also east coast model co. ATLANTIS , who recently purchased some old toolings from the Monogram plant in Illinois , will be releasing many old TD monogram kits ( many rare ones we have not seen for sometime ) Starting with the "Ghost of the Red Baron" and the "Lil Red Baron" snap-tite ! This is all good news for the hobby we love !"

Did someone on this board say the Ghost of the red Baron mold was trashed sold for scrap ...... well guess what it's coming back so that tells me Monogram did not throw away any molds . just stashed  them away in a corner .Bring them on !
