Picked up my copy today at Barnes & Noble. Spent a little time going thru it and know I'm going to enjoy this book.

I'm not a big muscle car fan like so many American auto enthusiasts are, but muscle cars dominate virtually all aspects of American car culture so I think that the CarTech editors got it right to target their second book to this segment - and for sure to keep it far, far away from the hobbies and crafts section! Frankly I'm a bit surprised that the show car kit book did well enough to encourage them to go for a second book. Perhaps there, too, they targeted the Transportation category by packaging it as a hot rod and customs book. In any case I find it worth noting that you dedicated so many early chapters to early model car history before getting to the meat of your subject. That alone will ensure I get a copy. I only wish that your Golden Age project had found a publisher since I can think of few other authors better equipped in both historical knowledge and editorial and writing skills to tackle the task.

Got my copy last week. From what I've read, it is very nice book with a lot of detail and info... Then I showed it to my dad.. who has not built a model in over 40 years... let's just say, I may have to order another copy as I don't know if I'll get it back. He read half of it the night I showed it to him... so with that being said, good job Tim! You have the old man's approval, which is hard to do.

Hope you didn't cut the book opening it that way

Gosh no! It had a pull strip built into the cardboard. No knives.

Started into it when I got home, it’s a lovely book.

This is the most informative and entertaining model car books I have ever seen. The layout and all the side touches educated me on many facts in the industry. Well done, Tim!

And, Muscle Cars never really turned me on but I was riveted to every page and photo. :)

Mr. Procrastination here only got around to ordering his copy last week. It arrived today. Wonderful stuff! :D I swore to myself to read it cover-to-cover but only got to about page 40 before I started jumping around looking for my favorites. But I WILL read it ALL, I assure you! B)

Was kind of baffled on page 17, though, by this definition of "Tool:" "A large, liquid-cooled metal mold that produces vacuum-formed [sic] styrene model car kits."  Vacuum-formed?  Only thing I can figure is that someone, somewhere in the publication process had what's medically referred to as a brainphart.  I expect that's the worst glitch I'll find in the book, though. B)

BTW, it's fun to turn the pages and point to the pics and say, "Had it. Had it. Always wanted it, never got it. Had it and still have it. Wish I had it. Have it, still have it, but don't have the box. Have one new in the box. Finally scored one on eBay a couple years ago...."  and so forth. There are a LOT of familiar faces in these boxes. B)

I just got my copy a few days ago.  It looks to be a great book.  I only found a few errors while skimming through it.  Tim did a nice job!  It is packed with nice color photos.

Thanks Jim and Snake.  Send me a PM or post here any errors as I am keeping track and will make corrections if there is a second print run...

Best....TIM

Got another minor one. On the last paragraph on p. 151 (which continues on p. 152), you're talking about Shark-era (1968-82) Corvettes, but the term "C2" is used three times. The next paragraph correctly calls them C3, and then repeats the C2 error twice.

BTW, I never knew--or noticed back in the day--that convertible annual kits would appear on the shelves before the hardtop kits. Interesting!
