Tommy124 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 (edited) Hi folks, some months ago, I did the Revell kit of the '62 Corvette Roadster. I think the kit is great and the only issue I was facing was replacing the "chrome" on the kit's parts by something looking a bit more "real"... Hope you like it, here we go: Edited September 5, 2018 by Tommy124
Italianhorses Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Love the paintjob, turned out terrific!

I'm flattered to get a compliment from such a maestro... Funny that I was just in the process of exploring your great tutorials on http://italianhorses.net/Tutorials/tutorials.htm around the time of this build...
Gramps46 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Super build. The brochures on the passenger seat a clever touch.
TooOld Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I agree with you about the "kit" chrome and it sure looks like you did it ! Excellent work !

Snake45 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 '62 Vette in Honduras Maroon...Man, it just don't get much better than that! Well done and model on!
Dragonhawk1066 Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Nice job on that. I really like the color. I just painted mine Tamiya pearl green and will get to work on it in a couple of months (one of my winter builds). You just set a pretty high quality bar for me to try to achieve.
Ryansrust6 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Beautiful build always a great car true classic
tmb727 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Wow, really clean and nice. Emblems, flags, scripts, dash detail - all perfect. Is the "CORVETTE" on the nose a decal? If not, how do you do that???
Tommy124 Posted September 6, 2018 Author Posted September 6, 2018 Thanks folks, for your kind feedback. I'm glad you like the Vette... 16 hours ago, Gramps46 said: The brochures on the passenger seat a clever touch. Yes, they are nice, but in fact, they are more a lovely touch by Revell as they are included in the kit! Thoughtful of them, isn't it? 12 hours ago, Snake45 said: '62 Vette in Honduras Maroon... Well, actually it's a metallic red Ferrari color from Gravity Colours. It's quite similar to the color used on one of the models shown on the kit's box, which I liked a lot... 4 hours ago, tmb727 said: Is the "CORVETTE" on the nose a decal? Yes, it's a decal. The kit's body comes with the CORVETTE letters done as raised letters but there is also a decal included for those who want to make it easy on themselves... The decal looked good, so I sanded down the raised letters and used it. I'm happy with it!
espo Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I agree with everyone else on this build. Top pick of color and the finish is outstanding. The minute details on the engine and the interior look perfect.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Not a fan of the wheels, but loved the paint job. Had one of those kits, I got with another kit in a trade. This week I finally traded it on a new release AMT '49 Ford.
om617 Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Very nice Corvette, pretty color! Did the wheels come with the kit?
Rider Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Top shelf build. Absolutly stunning work, great colour and finish.
Tommy124 Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 Thanks again, folks! 5 hours ago, Lovefordgalaxie said: Not a fan of the wheels, but loved the paint job. Yesss... You either like these wheels or you don't... 3 hours ago, om617 said: Did the wheels come with the kit? Yes, you have the option to go for stock or custom wheels. Even though normally I'm not a fan of custom parts on a beautiful vintage car, I went for those custom wheels because I think the Vette looks a bit too "tame" on stock wheels. The body had to be lowered just a tiny bit in order to make it all look nice. I skipped the custom decals though (flame decals to be applied on the side of body...)

Dave Darby Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 That color is perfect for that car. What is it? I concur with the others on the wheels. Nice set of Torque Thrusts would be money on that car. But it's your build and it looks great!
Tommy124 Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 (edited) Thanks again folks! On 9.9.2018 at 6:27 PM, Dave Darby said: That color is perfect for that car. What is it? This is "Ferrari Rosso Metallizzato" from Gravity Colors Europe, item no. GC-217. And 2k clear on top of that... Edited September 11, 2018 by Tommy124
