I have a kit from Revell that suffered from what I'm told is blow mold. Does anyone know anything on what's going on with Revell? I went to their website and it doesn't look like anything has been updated since March. So I'm figuring my chances of getting them to send me a replacement body will be close to nil. Why I didn't notice it until now I don't know.

Worse comes to worse you could always put a large dual exhaust in that opening. ? Never said it was a good idea. I hope you can get a replacement.

You didn't say where your sent the email to.  Several months ago, I was trying to get replacement parts for the '70 Hemi 'Cuda where I got no stock suspension or the dual scoop hood, but two shaker hoods and double the rear springs for the custom.  Can't build stock with that stuff.  They sent me the wrong hood for a replacement so I now have three shaker hoods and I got caught in the middle of the Revell USA shutdown when I sent them a query on the dual scoop hood.  Someone there referred me to Revell of Germany for help.  I ended up getting the dual scoop hood from someone local.

Short shot. Well I sent them an email. Time will tell right?

Man, I hope it works out for you. Did you try emailing Revell of Germany? Worth a shot. Let us know how it works out....

That "blows"

And it looks like they painted right over it and boxed it up and STILL didn't notice it! Looks like you weren't the only one who didn't see the defect.

Good luck, I hope they will make it right. BTW, I once had an issue with an oop kit. Thinking it was a long shot, I contacted them about replacing the decals. To my surprise, they sent me a new sheet and a letter of apology, so you just never know until you ask.

If that's the same one that was in the picture that you posted in the What did you get today thread, you probably didn't notice it because someone put that big orange price sticker right over the bad spot. I don't think I would have seen it either.

Being that those pre-paints are being blown out by Ollie's from allegedly the remaining stock of Hobbico, there's a 99.9% chance the new Revell can't do anything for you in terms of replacing that exact body. I doubt they have any of the unpainted 2014s left at this point either.

Oyahuh. Maybe true, but they will dryout and crack. Just look at rubber bumpers from cars of the 80s.

As you've already been told here, it's a "short shot". It happens in injection molding when there's insufficient material injected to entirely fill the mold cavity. This body could have been a VERY early production piece, molded before the "tuning" was completed. It can also happen if there's a cold spot in the mold.

The term "blow mold" means something entirely different. It's the technique where sheet material is blown into a mold cavity to create parts like the clear portion of the package this particular model is in, aircraft canopies, some kayak hulls, etc.

Short shot makes sense seeing it wasn't fully formed. I did send an email but don't expect anything from it. And I did pick up another one yesterday when I went to Cicero, NY for a model contest/show. There was an Ollies near by. They still have the same kit at our AC Moore and they are charging $28.99. They will be there for a while.

I did send an email to Revell in Germany. But I haven't heard anything and doubt I will. But I did buy another duplicate kit at another Ollies so this will be used for parts or something.
