"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Well, that's good because the Mustang is the one that I picked too. It was a Jairus Watson design from a magazine Sketchpad years ago. Most of the body work is completed. I (re)started on it today. Mostly familiarizing myself with my original plan and doing a bit of work on getting the interior together. I'm using the 65 door panels and dash but upgrading to the 96 seats and center console. The suspension is going to require the most alterations. It is where I stalled out last time. Pics later of the work.

Later-

I have been working on the 36 but I confess It's taken the back seat to all my sorting and organizing. I wasn't to happy with the door lines maybe rushed the body work around the door frames...

My dingis cousin cut them away from the top so it's been a fairly comlicated chop and getin those back in place has proven to be nearly impossible... compounded by my perfectionist ways, I can't be satisfied. So in an effort to hide the "Jagged" door lines, I added a panel seperater wash... The color is light too to use a black wash so I'm trying to correct it at the moment...

The Honcho is done!

I’m very pleased with this one! It’s been a long time in my mind. It is just as I wanted and more thanks to a friend at work who suggested making the plow fully functional.

It pivots left and right, raises and lowers, and tilts forward. I wasn’t sure the springs would be strong enough to pull it back upright, but they do!

Thanks to Snake45 for the Bring out your Dead thread. That’s two that might not be done for me otherwise!

And here they both are!

There are so many great projects underway in the "Bring Out Your Dead" thread, quite a few of which wouldn't take a whole lot to get across the finish line. I have a couple in that category myself (and earlier this year, I actually finished up three that would have qualified for the Dead thread). Anyone want to join me in committing to dragging one or more of these projects off the Shelf of Doom and actually finishing it by the end of the year? It could be fun! B)

I’ll do it.  I have a project that will take many months and I keep shelving it.

Fabulous! You're the second one this round to GITTER DONE! Congratulations! You gonna rescue another one from the Shelf of Doom this time around? You've still got six more weeks!

And BTW, I didn't start the Bring Out Your Dead Thread, I just had the idea to challenge those in it to GITTER DONE!B)

I haven't worked on my '57 Vette in a couple weeks due to a tricky wheel problem that was hanging me up (and getting distracted with a couple other rebuild projects), but TODAY I got that wheel problem worked out so should be able to drive on from here and GITTER DONE!

Just since we've turned a new page since the last update, here's where we are now:

Straightliner59: Junior Fuel Dragster MAKING PROGRESS ON THOSE INJECTORS!

Will be good to have you aboard. Just post a current pic of your project as it is now and announce you're in, and you're in! It's as simple as that. Deadline on this round is the last day of March--about 6 weeks away. B)

I am happy with the stacks. Working on those tiny (in 1/25 scale, anyway) injectors, themselves, now. Once I've decided exactly how I am going to do them, I will finish the manifold and induction setup. Then, I should have a pretty good handle on finishing the car!

The Jeep is Awesome!

This is inspiring me to get my Ford done. I'm slowly trying to get it sorted out but I'm thinking at this point I'd be better off trying to get the 55 done... The front fenders were sawed off at the front running boards... At the moment I'm re-attaching that.

My cousin was really going down a bad road with this thing and I'm glad he stopped when he did...

You're "officially registered" for both, so feel free to switch.

Better yet, GITTEM BOTH DONE! B)

It’s a 69 with a Modelhaus 68 conversion kit. I have a 68 diecast that I’m wondering if the interior can be used ....

I wrote a detailed review of the Welly '68 down in the Diecast section, complete with comparison to the AMT '69. The Welly is a bit undersized, maybe 1/26, but it's notably narrower than the AMT '69. I doubt that the '69 Welly interior could be used in the AMT kit, at least not without modification. Good luck with your project and GITTER DONE! B)

Do you think I can get away with just using the door panels, seats and dash and build it all up on the Chevelle floor?

Never mind that suggestion. I just compared the 68 interior to the 69 and they’re identical. So I think I will just build the interior off the floor of the 68 Chevelle with the 69 parts. I’ll add door handles and armrest for extra visual detail since the 69 tub style interior is very flat.

I remove the floor from the Oldsmobile interior so I could use the rest on the 68 Chevelle interior floor boards.

Take your time and work slowly, I think this will work perfectly.

All I had to do to make everything sit properly was to grind the corner where the seat back and seat meet and the top of the driveshaft tunnel.

As you can see here the door panels are sitting square on the floor. All I had to do was add a little material to the end of the kick panels. That will be painted black.

Last night before went to bed I removed the door vent windows from the Chevelle. I trimmed them only removing what was not needed from the Chevelle and they dropped right into place in the Oldsmobile! No modifications necessary!

I did not mount them on the doors yet since this is just a mock up the body. The painted body is at work. Maybe tomorrow during one of my breaks I will install them.

Does anyone know where I can find a set of these wheels?

I posted this in my own thread too but,,,

Drilled out the molded in headlights today. Used a small drill bit followed up with my trusty x-acto knife and a small 1/2 round file to clean up and center the openings.

I've also been working on the engine over the last few weeks. It's the original engine from the kit with intake and valve covers from one of the MPC '79 TransAm kits.
