I've left the tires bagged. Great! But the tires in older kits I've seen aren't bagged. They are loose in the box. Everything else is bagged, even in that 1987 kit, except the body and tires. And the fire-hose cloth material/wire, which can be easily lost from those awful end-opening boxes of later kits. Older issues came from the 1980s came in a regular 2-piece box. I put the tires in a Ziploc bag myself. I noticed 1 tire in that 1987 kit is starting to collapse. Maybe mounting the tire on the wheel will fix that, with help from a little steam or other heat. It could also be that Revell improved its tire formula over the years. I sure hope so. Like others, I might try to order some replacements. Edited November 19, 2018 by Mike999 omit
Junkman Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 The Revell stand at Telford wasn't really worth looking at from a car modeller perspective. Highlights were the two 1/16 Porsche 356es, which admittedly look very nice indeed, though.
Dave Van Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 1/72 Boeing 747..........that is huge. 1/96 Saturn V I had back 1968....may need another. 1/16 928...is that new??? seems I recall it 1/48 B1B is cool too

W-409 Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I will for sure buy one of those Chevelles, and the Büssing Truck looks pretty interesting, too. Depending on what they cost around here, I might buy one of them as well.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Pretty pleased about the 928. Been looking on evilbay for some of the originals. Nice bookend for the new-tool 356s, which I've been eagerly anticipating for a year now. And yeah, that Bussing is a monster.

Faust Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I guess I'm the only one excited by those two 1/76 offerings eh? I have been WAITING for the Char B1 and FT17 to come out, and I don't have the M40 either. Now, all I need is the LRDG and the Jeep and Morris gun tractor set and I'll have all the Matchbox "big" armour multi-kits, I think. C'mon Revell! LRDG for 2020!

BVC500 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Looks like Hannants mistakenly posted Revell releases earlier than Jan. 1 and then removed them from the website. See discussion here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235046796-revell-2019-releases/& I'm hoping that Revell withheld their exciting 1/24 announcement, because nothing posted by Hannants is exciting. I know some will be pleased by a 1/24 Land Rover Series III to be introduced in Sept. 2019. Seems like a latecomer, since there was a discussion here before:
niteowl7710 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 There was a discussion of the Land Rover III, but that list says it's a new tool, not some rework of someone else's ancient piece, so that would be somewhat interesting. Also on there as a new tool is Deutz D30 Tractor - something to go with that Porsche, and would fulfill the foreshadowing of the pre-bankruptcy Revell US rebox that said "Tractor Series".
Richard Bartrop Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 That 1913 model T roadster looks pretty exciting. It doesn't say whether it's a new tool or the ICM kit, but either way is good.

Richard Bartrop Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 The ICM kits go for $90 here, so if they can bright the price down to the ballpark of other RoG kits, this will be very good news.

I feel sorry for you guys up there sometimes, you just get relentlessly hosed. ICM Ford kits sell for $35 all day long on eBay.
Richard Bartrop Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 You do know eBay charges for shipping, right? This means another $20-30 on top of that, depending on how larcenous the seller is feeling. Factor in wait times, exchange rates, brokerage fees, and the usual eBay malarkey, $90 Canadian to just walk in a store and pick up a kit starts looking pretty good.
Luc Janssens Posted December 21, 2018 Author Posted December 21, 2018 Indeed postage went thru the roof, factor in customs fees (they include shipping in their calculation of the value of parcel) and that eBay bargain became very pricey. Gift parcels get the same customs treatment, a big sign that our greedy government needs mo money! The main reason my US Ebay purchases went to zero this year. Local swap meets and hobby stores now...
niteowl7710 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Shipping cost more from everywhere to everywhere, the shipping out of Japan in "bulk" (more than 3 kits) has gone from around $6 per kit, to around $10. FedEx used to be cheaper than the Postal Services, but they've jacked their rates up to the point it costs 1.5x MORE than EMS, when it always used to be far cheaper option. Meanwhile FedEx is having all sorts of losses on their International Shipping...Wonder why...
martinfan5 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Yep, my last shipment was 6 kits( a shirt and a pen and a detail up set) it ran me $58 US( it was like 6000Y) Fedex was almost double that at around 8000Y, I hate, I mean I hate using EMS, the tracking simply sucks ( at least for me) and I never have an idea when its coming once it clears Customs in Cali. But I like the savings so there is that. Because of the higher shipping I no longer let my PWH get past 6 kits. It really does suck for you guys up north, you are really getting screwed over shipping cost. Edited December 22, 2018 by martinfan5
Rob Hall Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Interesting..I haven't had any issues with HLJ and EMS shipping...I'm able to track in through USPS the whole way to my local PO and then when it's out for delivery. The only issues I've had have been w/ my local PO..sometimes they show a delivery exception when they haven't even brought it to my house (I always catch them delivering w/ my Ring doorbell camera).
niteowl7710 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 My only issue with EMS tracking is that if it doesn't get scanned properly at Narita (the airport in Tokyo for the uninitiated), then that leg of the trip is dark and it will sometimes not reappear on the USPS tracking until the package is being held at the Post Office. The box I just shipped was picked up 2 1/2 days ago...and that's it, but I bet it shows up magically the day after Christmas.

Sometimes on-line vendors heavily discount those kits. Just checked my Spend Log for the past year. Back in May, Freetime Hobbies had a sale with the ICM 1913 Model T Speedster going for US $19.95. I know your shipping to Canada will still be expensive, but a discount that steep might offset the shipping costs somewhat.
Richard Bartrop Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I already have plenty of kits to work on while I wait for it to hit the shelves here.
