ismaelg Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Hello everybody! I won't be able to complete anything else before year's end, so the class is set. This is a very important "Year in review" for me. You see, after been very active in the hobby for over 30 years, I walked away in 2009. The slump basically became a 10 years drought! So this is my first Year in review since 2008. It is a humble comeback nowhere near what I was doing back then, but I'm happy. Just for fun, vote on your favorite and I'll compare that to my own ranking. So here is my Class of 2018 in chronological order. Dream Daily Driver C7 Corvette Under Glass post:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/130028-ladies-and-gentlemen-my-dream-daily-driver-c7-corvette-added-video/ Progress thread:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/105147-c7-corvette/ C7 Convertible Corvette 3LT Under Glass post:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/130122-ladies-and-gentlemen-my-c7-corvette-convertible/ 2016 24 Hrs at Daytona Winner C7R Corvette Under Glass post:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/133337-ladies-and-gentlemen-my-c7r-2016-daytona-winner/ Progress thread:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/117667-corvette-c7r-daytona-winner/ Ron Fellows #33 Mosport C6R (2007) Under Glass post:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/135770-ladies-and-gentlemen-the-ron-fellows-white-c6r/ Progress thread:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/133111-ron-fellows-mosport-white-c6r/ And just for fun here is the link to my class of 2008. This is what I was doing a decade ago... By the way, I was one of the early starters of these "modeling year in review" threads in the early 2000's back at the Hobby Heaven board, then here when I joined in 2006. Many stalled, in progress and new project ideas so who knows what 2019 will bring. Looking forward to it! Thanks, Edited December 22, 2018 by ismaelg
bbowser Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Great models! For me it's a toss-up between the Dream daily driver (love that color), but I voted for the Daytona winner. The weathering is just perfect. Glad you're back!
donb Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 That Dream Daily Driver is just too nice! My vote.
Phildaupho Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 A bunch of nice Corvettes. I like them all but picked the Ron Fellows version as my favorite as he was also one of my favorite race car drivers.
espo Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 While they are all Corvettes each is unique unto them selves. Each and everyone of them are outstanding builds, I can not choose.
Silver Foxx Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I like the Daytona winner , but all of them are great looking builds.
Cardz Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Great work! I agree, all are really nice but something about that road grime just gets me. Great lineup!
NYLIBUD Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I Like them all,but the yellow Daytona winner is my favorite.Great job on weathering the car after the long race.Looks very realistic.
Mister Twister Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 All great builds without a doubt.....But as mentioned and I must agree...The subtle weathering is a great touch and very realistic. Excellent work!
Dann Tier Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I'm not a Corvette person, but you build awesome models!!
TooOld Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Sharp looking Corvette Class and welcome back !
ismaelg Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 Thank you all for the comments. Will let the poll go for a few more days but there is already a trend.
bill lanfear Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 All very well executed and all worthy of bragging rights! Well done!
robertw Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Of course Ismael I must go with Ron's car for obvious reasons and since I've always thought the C7 looked better as a cv then as a coupe it will have to be my second choice.. If I don't talk to you tomorrow have a merry Christmas, my friend.
Janne Herajärvi Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I like them all, i have not finished or even started any Corvettes since i was kid.. Maybe i do one in 2019..
ismaelg Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 Thank you guys! Janne, hope to see you do a Corvette this year! Let me know if I can be of any help. Merry Christmas everybody!
Luis Ayala Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) Hi Ismael!!! Outstanding work as ussual. Sometimes we see the finished build and miss the challenges the builder went through to get it done. Hours and hours of fitting, filing, sanding, primer, over and over again... To get the paint right, to make it look like the real deal... I take my hatt off my friend... I really admire your tenacity and attention to detail. Congrats on all these amazing builds!!! Merry Christmas and best wishes on the holidays!!! My favorite... C7 Convertible Corvette 3LT Edited December 25, 2018 by Luis Ayala
Anglia105E Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 I like the yellow Daytona winner Ismael, and the weathering is perfectly accurate. David
Peter Lombardo Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 What a surprise, Corvettes! All really well done, although by now you should be able to build a Corvette model in your sleep..... I too like the Daytona C7R the most.
ismaelg Posted December 27, 2018 Author Posted December 27, 2018 (edited) Thank you all for taking the time to take a look and vote. Also for your very nice comments. I appreciate them. Glad to be back. Peter, I promise I'll have at least one Non-Corvette project this new year. Thanks! Edited December 27, 2018 by ismaelg
