Greg Myers Posted January 5, 2019 Author Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) unless you have a C Edited January 5, 2019 by Greg Myers
W-409 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Personally, I don't like neither one of those on the first post, the first one is just too Rat Rod like even though it has a nice glossy paint job. The second one has disgusting big wheels with rubber band tires.... Not good. But, in general, I prefer Model A over Model B all the way. A Five Window Coupe Model A with '32 grill is pretty much as perfect Hot Rod as it gets... In my opinion at least.
Rob Hall Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I like the 2nd one, the modern wheels and tires look good IMO.
restoman Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Out of the two A bodies, I'd pick B over A, but I'd really rather have the Track T in the background, or the grey #8 machine, or the black Stude...;)
Oldcarfan27 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I like both. I don't know why, but the first one kinda has that Munster Mobile vibe. Second one is clean.
Jon Haigwood Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I kinda like both, but I agree make "C" the Track T in the background and I vote for "C:
Snake45 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I'll put it this way: I wouldn't build a model of either one of those cars, nor the track t in the background. Just not my thing, any of them.
Joe Handley Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 If Injust wanted something I could park and listen to the ooohhhhsss and aaahhhhsss while being good for not much else, A would be fine. If I wanted something I could actually drive and enjoy my time in the car while it's on the move, B....all day long.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 These types of cars have pretty much ceased to be unique at this point, haven't they? Every show I've ever attended whether it's a 1:1 show, or model show, has dozens of them. I have no interest in either one. If I were given one, I would sell it and buy a real car! Steve
Rob Hall Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I might build a model of the B style. I really have no interest in one in 1:1, too old for my interests.
Craig Irwin Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I don't care for eithor, but I could make B into something I'd like.

Steve Agree with you completely.
Atmobil Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Can I nominate a C and a D? If one wants to "strike a pose" at a car-show, why not arrive in something a little different? And ,to me atleast, a stock model A would be sufficiently different to drive than a modern day car so no real need to build "just another" hot rod. Building one so that it drives like a modernday car could be cool, but then one whould be able to drive it every day. And here where I live one would be crazy to drive something like this on the roadconditions we got on days like today. The temperature is just above freezing and we got rain that turns in to snow as the elevation gets just a little higher and LOADS of salt on the roads. Around here, it is best to have a daily driver in the winter that one hates and there is nothing better to hate than a modern day econobox.
Can-Con Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I like B ,, but I'd like it better with a chrome '29 rad and stock hood. I could live with the wheels but rather a set of 15 or 16s. OH, but here's another option I bet some would like even better.

You crazy kids with your big hooptie wheels and little teeny weenie tires.

I hear this argument a lot in defense of "resto-mods". It kind of takes the nostalgia out of driving an old car in my opinion. Give me something to tool around in on a Saturday night that drives and handles like the antique that it is. Otherwise, a new Mustang or Challenger would do just as well. By the way, can anybody tell me why half of the custom and resto-modded cars you see these days all have the same butt ugly shade of tan leather for the interior? I really never understood that one with all of the extremely cool and interesting interiors that the old cars had. It seems to me that it would be much more fun being behind the wheel of this, Than this. Yeah, I know. I get the whole comfort thing. But I would rather ride in style than in comfort for the short period of time that a guy would spend in a car like this. Steve

STYRENE-SURFER Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 B. No, I am bored with the look of typical chopped rod w/modern drive train, rims, tire treatment.(resto-mod). A. Gets my vote, but just barely. And only because it is not the usual rusty or fake patina thing that has been popular for too long. If I had to own ether one though, that would be different. (B) At least some things like the color could be changed, and wheels, tires etcetera.
vintagercr Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I like Old 91, the dirt tracker in the background

As to your pic, I've often wondered about rodding an AmWagon. Hmmmm, doesn't look like too hard a shape to scratchbuild....
