Gramps46 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 Thanks for the clarification on the calendar Ferrari. I copied the model type as printed on the calendar. I guess you can't trust barber shop calendars. ?
Gramps46 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 OK, OK, I recently said I had all the 1/24 Ferraris I wanted and then this popped up for $10 + $10 shipping. How could I resist a California T soft top. And joined by its older brother, the 250 California.
Matt Bacon Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Is there a Portofino yet? I think it’s significantly better looking than the Cali.... best, M.

Anglia105E Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Here are two 1:43 scale diecast model cars that I picked up today....... one is a Jaguar MK V DHC by IXO in black with grey top, and the other car is a Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP Thrupp & Maberley by Oxford Diecast in Burgundy..... hope you like ! David
randyc Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 My latest acquisitions. Danbury mint. Had to fix the windshield frame on the Corvette. The Buick needs an antenna may and spot light reattached. But good pricing so I'm happy with them

It was the cheapest of these on the bay last week. Wasn't really looking for it, but it was cheap enough to get my interest and seller was willing to make a deal on both with "free" shipping. Got both for about as cheap as you can buy these two cars. Had given up on finding a reasonably priced Buick (less than $100). And the Vette just caught my eye. thought I had all the Vettes I needed. Guess I was wrong... lol. A nice model is a nice model, whether you need it or not, right?
Gramps46 Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 The Corvette and the Buick are great finds. Is the Corvette a '59 or '60? You are right about needing and finding something that just strikes your fancy. I am waiting on a '63 Corvette convertible to arrive that is in the same category, didn't really need it but it helps to fill out my C2 Corvette collection with both coupes and convertibles.
randyc Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Actually, it is the 58 DM limited edition. Fuelie. So now I have a 56, 58, 62, 63 SW, 67 Conv, and 75 Conv in Mint cars. I have a 66 Penske, 3 Grandsports, 55 with ZR-1 running gear and some later ones I have on ebay right now. Would like to find a 65 Mint or Napa diecast. Oh yeah, and a 65 builtup street machine style - Cragars and sparkly paint. So I have more than I really should have since I'm not a big Vette fan. Kinda like Firebirds - they somehow appear in your collection. I have like 15 Birds of various names from 1/64 - 1/24. I may have more of those than Camaros. Maybe there is hope to find the 61 Ford Wagon cheap someday.
Gramps46 Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 Randy, I doubt it can be a 1958 as it does not have the fake hood louvers or the chrome strips on the trunk. I am guessing it is a 1959 anniversary special with the red interior. The others in your collection sound really good, especially the Penske Sunoco 1966, that is a real gem.
randyc Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 You are correct. 59 anniversary edition. I don't know how many were made. Mine has #2277 on it. The review is fuzzy on what that really means. But it's nice. And the Penske is a plastic revell, not the diecast. I still like it though. That was a great era of racing.
Snake45 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Didn't get it, but today my Walmart had a nice M2 '71 340 Cuda in metallic charcoal gray with white billboards/graphics.
Snake45 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Stopped by Rite-Aid today. They had a sale on the Wellys--buy one, get one 50% off! Unfortunately, they didn't have anything I wanted/needed, much less two things. They did have a '53 Buick convertible in blue that looked pretty nice, but that's just not in my area at all so I passed (even though my Mom always said she wanted "a baby-blue Buick convertible). I wonder if Rite-Aid is getting out of the Welly bidness? I sure hope not.

That’s how I got the Ford taxicab for $2.50.

I've been looking at it at my local Walmart for a while but could never bring myself to buy it. It looks much better out of the package. I might have to make a stop on the way home.

Gramps46 Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 Finally today I was able to get a Danbury Mint 1963 Corvette convertible within my budget. Now all I need is a 1964 to complete my C2 collection.
randyc Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 Sharp Vette! DM makes the best Vettes overall.
Snake45 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Good selection at Walmart today! They had the Motor Max '69 SuperBee 6-Pack in both yellow and white (I already have a nice orange one), some M2 Challengers and VW vans, and the yellow Motor Max 2019 Corvette, which I almost bought. But I spotted a Motor Max 2017 Camaro in that pretty green with halfway decent paint. The paint's not perfect on this one, but it's WAY better than the other 3 or 4 I've seen so far, so I grabbed it. Figgered I'll have a better chance of finding another yellow '19 Vette later than another green Camaro with good paint. Just finished the Snake-Fu on the JADA '69 Dodge Daytona I bought last week. Pics up soon.
Gramps46 Posted November 10, 2019 Author Posted November 10, 2019 (edited) My wife of now 50 years this week asked me this morning to go to Walmart and get some mixed nuts for our favorite holiday snack, Chex Mix. Walmart struck a bell as Snake said they have restocked some new diecast so off I went. Sure enough they had several new M2 offerings including a 1971 Plymouth Cuda 340 Limited Production release of 5880. Now Plymouths are not my mainstream cup of tea but these looked pretty nice so I bought #4030. The white 1970 Dodge Challenger looked pretty good but I passed but might be tempted later. The only issue I found with the Cuda was all four wheels are wobbly much to my surprise. Edited November 10, 2019 by Gramps46
Snake45 Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Saw that one last week but didn't get it. But I DO like the gray color--kinda unusual for a diecast. I might end up with one of these sooner or later.
