This arrived today. Franklin Mint's 1993 40th anniversary ZR-1. I don't have any Corvettes from Franklin Mint and this seemed to be a worthy one from pictures I had seen and sells for way less than they're original cost on eBay. Came with box and all papers $25 plus shipping and I've seen nice cars without boxes and paperwork for less than $20 plus shipping. This one needs a polish and a slight touch up on the driver's front fender. I'll take more pictures and drop a separate thread after polishing. It may have an oddity, but I'll reveal that if it's true in the separate thread.

The infamous 375 hp LT5

I also picked these up at Wally world the other day. The 917 Hippie is what caught my eye, so I looked for others. They didn't have the Panamera or 918 to complete the set. I'll scout the other WMs to see what they have. I haven't collected any HW in about 5 years.

Those Vettes are nice enough.  And odd that they sell as cheap as they do.

And the HW are as nice as any I've seen of late.  I think I have the 917 in a Gulf scheme.   Maybe.  I kinda gave up on HW a couple years ago - just not enough realistic models on the pegs to be worth the searching.   And the pegs here are always missing the good stuff.  Same with Matchbox - they have good models but not available on pegs around here.  And not worth the cost on ebay.

Interested to see what you do with the C8 Vette. I have one to do too.

Love your Corvette!

Finally found something good at Ollie's.  I never seen to have any luck there.  Wife's dad had a Corvair, I had a green vega.  Thought I needed the GTO (didn't really).  And who can pass up a Daytona Cobra???  Couple of the cards had like 1 of4000.  And they're at Ollie's.  Wow.  And a lot of them so I'm thinking these had to be big losers for Round 2.

Man, you guys in the real world get all the good stuff. No Ollies in the land of Oz!

I *think* this is the FIRST time in however many years that I've found something worth buying.   The plastic car kits are long gone.  All that's left is some huge stage coach or civil war thing.

Just got--at Walmart--a Jada Stranger Things Camaro, looks like around a '78 or somewhere in there. Seems to be 1/24, or at least not grossly overscale like many Jadas, and I don't have any other diecast 2nd gen Camaros.. And it has fairly nice stock-ish wheels, too. Solid royal blue paint. This will be my next diecast Snake-Fu--looking forward to it!

ETA: Just measured the wheelbase, which came in at 1/23.94. Close enough, especially for a Jada!

Apparently, it's supposed to be this car:

I got out the silver Sharpie and now I am much more pleased with my new Corvette but then I am a certified "old man".

Mine has been sitting on my computer desk looking toylike and dead since I bought it. In the mood for some Snake-Fu, I just peeled the tires off the wheels (not difficult on this one) to sand the treads, and while they were off I took the opportunity to hit the rims--JUST the rims, not the spokes--with my beloved Silver Sharpie, as well as the lug nuts. It made a WORLD of difference, really brought the thing to life!  Now I need to find my long-shanked small Phillips screwdriver so I can try to do the amber turn signals and paint the black front plastic black, so it looks less like toy plastic.

Onward!

Look and sound great. Rim really helps, tips like Gary's too. Really like it in white. The rocker trim black? I need one. Ebay, I can't go out with no white cells. Nothing wrong with geriatric. Locomotive wheels have black centers and silver rims. :)

Maybe drop the front a little? or too much work?

These two diecasts complete sets I've been collecting since 1991. Now I haven't been trying all that hard to complete them. I just realized when I pulled what I had out of storage, there where a few cars that were missing from each series. These are Racing Champions Collector's series from 1991-1992. The white and red 1969 #61 Talladega is Hoss Ellington. One of the independent drivers from back in the day. The blue and black #30 1969 Daytona is Dave Marcis. Dave was probably one the most successful independents in NASCAR. However, he did have his best performance while driving the red #71 K&K Insurance Dodges of Nord Krauskop. Marcis was considered one of the most difficult drivers to pass. Ryan Newman enjoys that title now.

The Collectors series from Racing Champions were 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbirds, Ford Fastbacks (1964 Galaxies), 1969 Dodge Charger Daytonas, 1969 Ford Talladegas, and 1968-69 Mercury Cyclones. I now have all the named drivers on the cards but two. I have my eyes on them as well. I also have a few that weren't on the backs of the cards, but found in the sports memorabilia shops over the years. I might make a separate topic for all these cars once I have the last two.

Glad you found them.   What's the last two you're looking for?  I still haven't located the ones I have to see if I can help.  I've found some of mine, but not all

This arrived just now! Not a holy grail, just a car I've wanted to save. Danbury Mint 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 Sedan. So many of these show up on eBay with broken front suspensions. Many are "repaired" and sale for way more than I would ever pay. I've always wanted one that was complete with all the broken pieces, but not "repaired". The only piece I don't have is one of the fake coil springs. It has a working suspension and I think that's where the problem is. People put too much pressure on the front suspension and it binds and breaks the flimsy plastic pieces. Thankfully all the other parts that seem to come up missing are there too. The mirrors, hood ornament, and tail light gas cover. The best part is I only paid $23.50 plus shipping! Once I finish repairs, I'll make a separate post showing what I did to fix it.

NIce score Tim.  I got one of those a while back.   It was great - no suspension issues.  BUT.... after it sat on dresser for a while, it started looking like something was happening.   Turns out that the suspension piece was loose and just dropped out.  I fixed it easily and better.   Just odd that happened with no touching.  Hasn't happenend again.   They are great looking cars.
