THarrison351 Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Not so much today, just the last couple of weeks. Danbury Mint 1968 el Camino. Bargain off of eBay that had epoxy glue all over. Only missing the trim on the tailgate and the little red tool box. Also, now have Hailie Deegan's first truck from 2020. Now I'm just waiting for her Craftsman truck.
Snake45 Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 That DM '68 Elky is nice. I lucked into one for $20 or $25 at the local toy show a few years ago (no box or papers). It was an early and still proud member of my Black Diecast Chevies sub-collection (which is now up to something like 15 or 16 cars, last time I counted.
Gramps46 Posted March 6, 2022 Author Posted March 6, 2022 (edited) The mail cometh! A Danbury Mint 1949 Jaguar XK 120 and a BBurago Ferrari Roma. The Jag is an early DM release and was made in Korea. The 2020 Roma is a recent BBurago release with different packaging and a plastic pry tool to get the doors, trunk lid, and hood open. Edited March 6, 2022 by Gramps46 2
keyser Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 Useless Jag trivia- chrome indicators on fenders feature of early alloy cars. Steel cars even SE (aka M) had the faired in trafficators. DM did great job on that. Nice hits Gary.

Ace-Garageguy Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Got a cheap, damaged, and horribly proportioned 1949 Plymouth business coupe. The representation of the car isn't even Palmer quality, but it's a place to start to do a master for this:
keyser Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Bill, hate to tell ya but ugly in proportion still is ugly. Woof. Haven’t seen that car in a long time.

Granted it's not a particularly beautiful car, but I always kinda liked the business coupe...and the Ramchargers version was a major, groundbreaking influence in drag racing.

Thanks, Gary - the main issue of this model is the wheels - spoke wheels aside, the tires look too fat for 1950, although they have a nice tread. But the tire lettering is definitely NOT period correct - way too large!
Gramps46 Posted March 11, 2022 Author Posted March 11, 2022 I agree with you on the tire lettering but should be an easy fix. Without an overhead shot it is hard to tell on the tire width. Assuming IXO made the model it is unusual for them to make those mistakes isn't it?
keyser Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 (edited) Fernando Pinto has sets that work. Ping him, I’ve gotten extras for other projects from him. Useless tire trivia F1 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One_tyres Era when drivers were fat, and tires were skinny. ?? Edited March 11, 2022 by keyser Linky
vamach1 Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Apologies if someone already posted this model. Picked up this HM 65 A/FX Mustang at Walmart yesterday. Very nice for the price. 2
Snake45 Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Very cool! I already have three M2 Mustangs but if my Walmart has that one, I'll get it, too. Thanks for posting it! 1
Gramps46 Posted March 21, 2022 Author Posted March 21, 2022 I saw one at Walmart last week, but the markings were for Big O Tires, I think. If it had been like your HM I would have gotten it. 1
Gramps46 Posted March 21, 2022 Author Posted March 21, 2022 I have been looking for an affordable Danbury Mint 1966 Mustang hardtop for a while and I just got one in the mail. While the price was right that was because the hood has a lot of rash on it. 2

Picked up this HM 65 A/FX Mustang at Walmart yesterday. Very nice for the price. Based upon Rex's find at Walmart I ordered one online and it just arrived. Not pleased with the black wheels so a bit of metallic grey looks better to me. Did some search and found a picture of the Wickersham A/FX and bingo a pretty good match. Now if we just had the decals. I also blacked out the grille bar. Not sure the mufflers and tailpipes are correct but that will be our little secret. Might detail the engine a bit too. Not bad for an hour of snake-fu. 5
Snake45 Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Gramps, very, VERY cool! This was some kind of special limited edition (50th anniversary, maybe?) M2 '65 Mustang. I removed all the tampo and other fru-fru and ended up with a clean street bomb. It's probably more Pro Street than early A/FX, but I like it anyway. 1
