Dougboy Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 (edited) Hello folks, Latest completed project. Kit is a BMW e36 318i Super Touring class race car which I've built as a modified street car. Paint used is Mr. Color Gx3 to replicate BMW hellrot, cleared with Tamiya TS13. Wheels are Aoshima Volks TE37rt. Cut out the grates in the front bumper and made a small lip with styrene and some putty. Everything else is out-of-box. Edited March 25, 2019 by Dougboy
afx Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Very nice Edwin. The Touring Car and Tarmac Rally kits make a great basis for a hot street tuner.
Rusty92 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 You’ve nailed the look of a mean BMW! Favorite color too! Nicely done!
espo Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Great looking BMW, the paint is super smooth looking. Got a little camber in the front end which I'm sure was by design.
PowerPlant Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 This I like That red really pops! What did you use for the yellow on the headlights and fog lights? Looks great
iamsuperdan Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Really nice build. The paint work looks super smooth and just shines. Excellent work.
Dougboy Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 Thank you all. The Super Touring Class 318 actually ran a lot of camber front and back, and the hubs on this hasegawa kit was already slanted to reflect that. Made it easier to go for that "stanced" look. The yellow lenses were just colored with a yellow sharpie. After sharpie'ing, I use a tiny brush and a bit of rubbing alcohol to smooth out the sharpie ink's unevenness and it becomes really clear and smooth.
spencer1984 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Looks great, you did some nice clean work on this!
Bill Eh? Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 What an amazing paint job. I'm especially impressed with the panel line work and the painting of the trim...really clean.
Modlbldr Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 NICE! Love it! I'll have to remember the sharpie and alcohol trick. Later-
