David G. Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 (edited) I picked this one up a while ago and decided to start on it... finally. I managed to knock the garage together in just a couple of hours but there are a lot of tools and other kit included with this. There are several major items: auto lift, engine hoist, etc. My plan is to update this thread as I finish each of the various assemblies and tool groups. With the clear plastic enclosure, it will make a nice place to display all the tools and equipment that come in the kit. Once all the equipment is built and placed in the garage, there won't be much room for a car. Maybe Fujimi should have included a disclaimer. "Caution: May not be suitable for large American cars." Had I thought about it, I would have bought a second garage and built them joined together. Oh, well. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G. misterNNL Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 That may very well be their original intention to sell additional sets so builders can construct garages capable of displaying multiple at once.
Rudy Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Looks like fun! Maybe a smaller car like a Model A Roadster or Coupe Would fit much better, and still look like and "american" garage... -Rudy

In the mean time, I do have a Volksie Bug and a Meyers Manx. David G.
randyc Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 I've got this and Academy(?) Service Station kit. If I ever get to them, should be an awesome setup for a garage. If I ever get there. this is cool so far.
mod3l Lover Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 I have always wanted to see one of these being built. So I will enjoy watching this!!??️?? David S.
David G. Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 Hello everybody. I have a couple more images to share with you. This (obviously) is the auto lift. I decided to paint the base plate with caution stripes. It just seemed to be the right thing to do. I also had some trouble with the decals on the left upright and had to print a set of my own to use. Well, there ya go! As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. kelson Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Nice weathering on the lift,i have so many of these tools and garage type kits I really need to build them
gasser59 Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 (edited) Great job so far David. I have a bunch of these Fujimi kits as well as a few other brands too. I don't have the floor and walls kit though. I feel a diorama in my future although I don't have a place to put it. You may just motivate me to get mine down off the shelf. The nice thing about these tool and equipment sets is working on them a piece at a time you can get a feeling of accomplishment without a large time investment. I remember all the detail you threw into your 1923 Ford Carny Wagon. A full diorama made by you would be mind-blowing. David G.

Oh I have built a diorama and used a number of these Fujimi pieces along with some of the Campus Friends figures although most of it was scratch-built.

I do remember that one now, most impressive. I ultimately plan to build something like that. The Fujimi one that I have is nice but it's just too small. I want to create "scenes" than take photos... like you did there. David G.
David G. Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 Gas cans- Racing fuel no less. And a shelf to put them on. Tucked safely in the corner. That's all for now. David G.
Anglia105E Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 This workshop of yours is already coming to life...... I look forward to following your progress, David. David

David G. Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 I know it's been almost exactly a year since I turned in anything on this project, so here it is! The engine hoist. And here it is amidst the other members of its tribe. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
randyc Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 That looks great! Needs some decals to make it look truly "loved". But looks very real.

Thank you, good suggestion. Yeah, I'm rather surprised that there were no warning label decals for the hoist arm- "Caution Do Not Exceed..." etc. I do have some product and sponsor call-outs to put on it. If I can remember where I saw them last. I'll have to see what I can come up with. David G.

David G. Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Ok, it's been a while so I should probably post an update on this one. After some added decals and weathering the rollaway is pretty much done. There are, of course hand tools to place in the open drawers... eventually. And maybe a spray of Dullcote or Tamiya flat clear. I haven't decided yet. I added an "I Love Model Cars" bumper sticker to the hoist arm. That will be all for this one unless something else catches my imagination. Last but not least, the newest addition to the Garage Hoard, BBS Crates. I may whip up some PO Shipping labels to stick on them. And here are all of the current shop items in the garage. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please always feel free to comment. David G.
Jantrix Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I've been using this kit for my shadowbox dio. Real nice kit. I like what you have going on here.
PHPaul Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Question - Is the rest of the garage (walls and floor) going to be weathered to match the equipment?
