Matt Bacon Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 No build thread for this one, since it's a really simple kit, intended to be motorised: it probably originates elsewhere than Gunze (Eidei-Grip maybe). That said, it's well-shaped and the detail on the body is fine and crisp. The inspiration for this speedy build: Octane from a couple of months ago... Paint is Humbrol Bronze for the body, Brass for the wheels. Another quirky 70s shape to add to the shelves, and the beginning of the line of "baby" Lambos of which the Huracan is the current iteration... best, M.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Very attractive model. The kit seems to miss the mark slightly on proportions, but you've done a fine job with it nonetheless. Nice work.
peekay Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Great looking model - and beautifully photographed too.
Sport Suburban Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I remember building one of these as a kid in the 80s. Testors box and I loved it and played with it. It's long gone now but I do have another one in my stash to build. Yours looks great!
beeRS Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 That is a wonderful job. Looking at the finished model its hard to believe it came from such a basic kit. Well done.
Dave B Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Looks great Matt, have always liked the Silhouette. Dave B
Peter Lombardo Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Looks good, well done, I really like seeing the car next to the magazine pictures, it shows the origin and how faithful you were to the original. Nice work.
Anglia105E Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Nice build, Matt....... from a simple kit as you say...... just shows what an experienced model builder can do with a very basic kit. David
Funkychiken Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 For such an old kit, it turns out really nice!
Matt Bacon Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Thanks, all... I enjoyed this one as a quick, simple build. The only addition was that I used some strips of black foam sheet glued to the wheel arch edges to stop "see-through." They flexed as the body went on and then popped out to fill the gaps... best, M.
89AKurt Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Only because I love the subject..... (that's so subjective isn't it) .... what a cool project! I had considered that color when doing the Aerovette, but decided it didn't compliment, in this case it looks great! Well done. The real ones are scarce and becoming unobtanium.
Dann Tier Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Cant believe i missed this!....i've built this before, and it is a fun, relaxing build, with great parts-fit....i have another one to do some time. Thanks for sharing this Beautiful...rarely seen car!!!

[...] Hey Matt, since you had posted this, and I left a comment, picked up two of these kits, the Gunze Sangyo version and the Testors, same mold. I see there is the capability to do light bulbs for the front lights. Could the tire/wheels be pushed outward, maybe so some Dremel removal of the flares inside? I was looking to see what other colors they came in, this car is all over the net.
Matt Bacon Posted December 16, 2020 Author Posted December 16, 2020 I think the stance is a bit low at the back.. the rear wheels don’t actually go up inside the flares, so you can move them out to almost the full width of the flares. The fronts can come out a bit, and thinning the interior of the flared arches will still give them room to turn. As for colours, I’ve seen white, red and charcoal grey metallic as well. Good job on finding them! best, M.
e30lover Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Very nice rare kit done in unique color combo! What did you use to drybrush the tires?

What did you use to drybrush the tires? @e30lover Thank you. If I remember correctly, the tire logos were dry brushed (well, actually, more "across brushed"... I dragged a lightly loaded fine paintbrush sideways just above the tire surface) with Vallejo acrylic "Foundation White" which is a very densely pigmented and quite thick pure white. Once it was dry, any paint in the wrong place could easily be removed with a sharp cocktail stick/toothpick... best, M.
