Greg Myers Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Here's one i did for a club theme build, Pontiacs. Not much of a Poncho fan but i dug this up and after reading something in a car mag about all those faux gassers, you know, Too high, Tinted windows, tinted headlights, whitewalls, etc.
TarheelRick Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Looks representative of the era. Some of those year Gassers got pretty wonky. Your build looks right on.
James2 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Nice looking model, now let the Gasser wars (definition) begin...
Jantrix Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Lets just call it very cool, and forget about a further definition. Nice work.
cobraman Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Pretty cool ! Right or wrong, I like the nose high look.
Greg Myers Posted October 9, 2019 Author Posted October 9, 2019 The point was a tongue in cheek poke at the style some street gassers have taken.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Hey...this is 2019. Whatever identifies as a gasser is a gasser.

I don't recall ever seeing a '64 GTO or anything similar as a gasser back in the day. Anyone with the cash to chop up a brand-new car into a gasser would more likely have built it as an A/FX, or just moved up to a full-on dragster. Gassers were more low-budget, backyard projects that started with older, MUCH less valuable starting points. (Okay, yah, there were a few gasser Sting Rays.) All that said, though, this is still a cool model.
stevez Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Luv the nosebleed, attitude, man, death proof.++
Daddyfink Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Other than the White Walls and Carbs, it is pretty much Gas, but borderline Funny as well.

The 65 had been converted by the original owner to its racing form in 1966 according to the then owner. The 67 was restored back to original in the late 80's by a local guy who actually was able to track down the original engine! There were a lot of street gassers here local for a few years. (then they all seemed to disappear into a black hole or something???) Some home builds and some were ex drag cars made streetable! (barely) Most were early Falcons and Chevy II's with a mix of 50's shoebox Fords and Tri Five Chevy's.
