That’ll be a nice build (and also some good evidence to people who don’t believe that the color from red plastic can leach out, unless you are using an orange sharpie or something on that hood…) 1
Joe Handley Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 If R/Cs can count, had to replace the middle of my Traxxas Stampede today, drilled a curb racing with friends Friday night and drilled a curb so hard that battery came unplugged from the impact! Here’s the damage….. amazingly, this wasn’t broken, which is good since I don’t have a spare like I did with the chassis! Finally, here it is put back together! 1

It's boxy, Plasticard sheet plus three sizes of Plasticard square section rod/tube. I've now to do an extensive search through numerous boxes of spares, to complete. Fingers crossed that I complete it! The trim ring is for the round rear window. Engine parts.. Update, 07.08.23, about to abort! Just had a chassis fall apart, after days of trying, I think I'll go back to building kits!

I'm actually leaning towards the center cap, as that's what I envisioned in the first place. The funny thing is, I haven't even started the kit yet. Box open, all bags still sealed. Maybe I should get rolling on that. you could put a small bit of rod on the back and make them removable for the best of both worlds

If you know the length and width you need i can print it to those sizes. you'd still need suspension and all the rest. its a show rod chassis but it should work for you
PatW Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Start again building kits, not scratch-building! Lindburg 32 Ford B Pick-up. Lost the clear parts so using retail plastic packaging. Cut out front a rear windows and headlight lenses, but also added side windows! So started the engine chassis build-up. 1
Dpate Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 (edited) So this is my first time doing foil under paint job, and on the engine instead of body. For some reason it seemed hard to take pics because of the chrome. Still got to do the other side, but I think it turned out pretty good for first time. I can also see how some would have trouble doing this method especially on a small piece without burrowing the detail in paint. Engine still in progress, and the paint is MCW Chevy engine red (6 coats) over pink primer. Edited August 9, 2023 by Dpate 3

I'm with you concerning burying it in paint. Many of the scripts we have to deal with are petty lightly molded.
PatW Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 As my hands are shaky enough, this is possibly my last 1/32 scale build. Airfix Bond Bug.. I don't know whether I shall paint all of it or not! 1

I'm probably going to have to scratch build a rack for that one. Otherwise all of them ar pretty much for everything. The racks that come with these kits should fit a good many models. For my Westfalia bus, I used to toss all my boars including my old G&S long board and all my buddies boards right in the back. Never even had to install my hard racks on the top. Wouldn't fit right with that tall fiberglass pop top. It was made to vlamp into those side drip rails.
PatW Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Cheers Bill. Finished photo's on the completed section. 1
PatW Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) Italeri Audi Quattro. I drove the first import road car from Germany, many moons ago. When building this kit be aware of many parts with flash and parts unfinished on the sprue. First front suspension leg, with no pin to locate into the top of the wheelarch, also fit the rollcage, before the interior side panels not as the instructions ask. Update-19.08.23, starting the decals! Update 20.08.23. That side done, the other side tomorrow! Edited August 20, 2023 by PatW

Modlbldr Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Here is where I'm at now. Finished the "woodgrain" but I may go back and drybrush more grey and silver over the dark blue to get more of a contrast between the body and blue woodgrain. Also finished the dash. Later-

Mike C. Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Got one of these '72 Chevy Coke trucks for free (long story) decided to make it a little more down market like a sort of work truck by sanding off the side trim. At first I started with am emory board, but that was a little slow going. Then I got out the dremel with the sanding barrel bit and followed up with the emory board. Now I'll be using sand paper to follow up. Thinking about ordinary weathered grey primer for the finish. Not sure yet. It will have 4x4 and lifted.
