wrenchr Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I have been working on a old revell Henry J gasser and the kit headers I did not care much for. Used the ends of exhaust dumps from an old amt nova altered. They are painted now. 2
Mattilacken Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) Got the brakes and wheels on. And then I noticed that I had to do some thing about the chrome grill. So I stripped it and painted it the same color as the wheels, which is Vallejo metal color Jet Exhaust. Edited March 24 by Mattilacken 5
JollySipper Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Got all the body parts to the little Plymouth in primer today.......... 3
oldcarfan Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I worked on my Cannonball entry for an hour, forgot something, went into the house, forgot what I was looking for, watched TV for a few minutes, went back to the shop, forgot what I was working on, so worked on another project. Took off my detail glasses, took a drink, looked for glasses for five minutes. Found glasses right in front of me. That was my morning. 2

Ulf Posted March 27 Posted March 27 One day it will be something completely different, but today I have at least cut. Styrene surgery is not easy but operating in these new kits that are similar on both sides, both shape and thickness makes it much easier than old kits.
oldcarfan Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I actually have some good news to report! I finished my Cannonball entry. I also finished up a Maisto VW Double Cab Pickup that I started last year. It's weathered based on a couple of trucks I used to see running around Austin Tx. The roof rack is made from floral wire, and the truck features homemade decals. Since a parts truck needs a cargo, I built a Revell Porsche 911 engine as a just finished crate motor ready for shipping. Finally, there's the Rupp Minibike from the MPC Dodge truck kit. 2
Pierre Rivard Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Took the jump on attempting a "rat rod style" paint process. Over a dark gray primer, I dabbed colors with a sponge starting from dark rust all the way to a very light blue. I avoided doing a complete coverage for each layer with the intent to create zones with more rust and zones with more residual color. I then gently wet sanded (1500, 2400 grit) again focusing on some areas more than others until I achieved this appearance. I need to touch up some areas and perhaps add some rust washes, but this first effort looks promising. Edited April 2 by Pierre Rivard 3

OldNYJim Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I printed this a little while back and have been slowly messing with it…this will be a curbside build, but I’m drawing up plans for a full-detail version too - fibreglass three-wheeled oval racer! They race as a contact class in the UK, hence the patch panels and some damage that I’ve been working into it slowly…need to figure out interior stuff (square tube rollcage, seat, gas tank, and so on) but every time I watch a video of them race these things I get motivated and work on it a little more 4

Nice VW Pickup. I did the Scale Production version with 3D roof rack, plus bikes and boards. 2

Should be perfect when you add paint with scratches and all. 1

I like the patch panel too, can't wait to see the whole build painted. 1
Mattilacken Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) Did some correction done to my Tirpitz build. The bow shape in the kit is the same as Bismarck but Tirpitz had a more straight edge than its brother. So I took some two part putty to roughly lay out the shape. Edited April 3 by Mattilacken 1
Old Buckaroo Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Mocked up the Atlantis 57 Nomad gasser project - I pulled this out 5 days ago when it decided to snow. (again) This kit has its challenging points, but who has an "Easy" button on their bench ? 2
oldcarfan Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I'm semi-incapacitated due to a couple of healing ribs. Who knew you could break ribs coughing? Another 3 weeks and we'll see how it goes. Because of that, I've had some free time. This week I cleaned the work area a little and am looking at ways to rearrange. I'm down to just the cutting pad, everything else is overflowing with stuff. I started several 'small' projects, including the AMT Parts Pack Motorcycles. Also dug out the Tamiya Honda City Cabriolet which is the perfect companion to the standard Tamiya City kit I painted a couple weeks ago. I also started the Italeri Range Rover, with an eye towards it being a restomod. Looking at the picture, I just realized they look like they were painted out of a Crayon box! Camel yellow, Vailant green, and Star Spangled Blue. 1
FoMoCo66 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 My first time airbrushing a model, used testors metallic red 50/50 lacquer thinner. I am amazed at the result and don't think I will ever use hardware store paint on a body AGAIN! Pretty satisfied with the result especially for the price. Thanks for looking! Elliot. 6
oldcarfan Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I've been trying out my scratch-building skills after watching a lot of Reels and YouTube videos. I started a 1/24th Honda MotoCompacto electric cycle yesterday and got it into paint this evening. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to wrap it up. 1
Falcon Ranchero Posted April 7 Posted April 7 (edited) Yesterday picked out some new tires/rims combo for my ‘64 Marauder as a change from the Cragars and white walls it had previously. Also going to re paint the chrome trim as I had used flat grey for some reason (no idea) because I have since got a hold of proper silver a while ago. And I gotta re glue on the mirror that fell off the fender. Edited April 7 by Falcon Ranchero 1
johnyrotten Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Made brake lines and hoses. I've got to research how the fronts are best routed. 1

I put the last coat of clear on it and it wrinkled. Luckily, the whole motorcycle is about the size of a quarter so it only took few minutes of wet sanding to strip it. Here's a screengrab of a real one to show what they look like. Edited April 8 by oldcarfan
