I was working on the printed VW drag body I bought. I got it sanded smooth ( lots of sanding ). I also was able to prime it . I wanted to add some exhaust dumps to the body so I marked it and then out to the drill press. I started out with a small pilot hole but it wasn't long before I heard a "crack" !  I got about a one inch split out from the hole.  Nothing I can't repair but I did not know how fragile this stuff was.

Made some wire wheels for this future project - I don’t really know enough about these 60s FEDs to do this build justice yet, but I felt like making something..,

Thanks buddy!  I'm still not that good at making them yet (this is only the second set that I've done) but I've figured out some things to do differently on the next ones to make them another step better again.  I think I want to make a set for that new Mooneyes dragster that Atlantis is releasing about now, so that'll be a good excuse to make some more...

A Jimmy Flintstone 1954 Metro Van, recently shipped from the USA to here in the UK. The body is about finished, so bumpers front and rear and windows to measure, cut and fit, plus front light lenses.. Interior part done so just the 'chassis' to measure, axles and wheels/tyres to fit and then work out how it fits inside the body as there are no mounting points for it. This I understand depending on the ride height you want in the final look. From my large collection of spares I've found some small round clear lights to fit front and rear after adding clear red acrylic.  Oh and I'm thinking about a front visor/sun shade and windscreen wiper.

That stretched body is interesting, When they made the faux Avanti's here in my home town they did a four door version. How about a four door Cobra?

Well , I have built a couple weird Cobra’s but if I did that there is at least 2 guys here that would probably throw up ! Don’t want that !

Here we are with the chassis posed with wheels and tyres and axles in place, but..... Due to the weight of this resin kit you'll notice the rear wheel leaning out at the bottom, my plastic axles aren't strong enough to take the weight. Tomorrow I will be fitting some alloy tube axles to strengthen them.

Awhile ago I bought 3 glue bomb Shelby Cobras on ebay . I have finished two . The third was little more than a body so as I have already shown I decided to make a long nose Cobra since I did have a spare body . That left me with two body sections . So I was playing around and thought why not put those two pieces together ?  Just playing around for now and I don’t know if anything will come of this . It may be best it does not .

I'm thinking of building this next..

photo-th.jpg

So I've bought it into the kitchen to wash it. Not having opened the box since buying it in June I noticed straight away that only the Bronco has separate rubber tyres! The wheels/tyres for both the buggy and the trailer are all complete plastic mouldings, so having to paint the wheels that are combined with the tyres is very disappointing!

I use a circle template to  mask the wheels. Just shoot the tires, then tape over all the holes around the one that "fits" the wheel, hold  it in place and spray the  wheel. I've had excellent results, doing it that way!

Thanks Daniel, I'll give it a try. I still can't understand why we can't have three sets of wheels and proper rubber tyres.

Test fitting the plastic wheels/tyres. The pins they mount on don't capture them so after sand on tyres and centres painted they will need to be glued on. I have had to do the same with the Bronco as again the method of mounting those wheels/tyres are by metal pins through the backing plates but they are not tight and fall off, so I've glued those as well.

I tried a new paint process today and I'm pretty pleased with the results.  Testors paint thinned with lacquer thinner.

Buggy looks good.

Thanks Ray, I've found the old Scale Equipment identical buggy that I bought years ago and am going to give it a refurb. as the new kit has two sets of buggy decals, I'll also give it a paint update. And it's plastic not resin as I first thought, but that was about 15 years ago!

Nice color!  Are you intending to clear over top, or polish out the color coat?
