I received this kit for Christmas and I'll have to say it was pretty fun to put together. There were 350 parts that pretty much pressed together and went together quite easily.

Wow, that really has a very pleasing sculptural quality to it; I just enjoy looking at it! How big is the actual model?

Thank you Rusty! The model is 15 inches long. I'm thinking I need to make a display base with a section of track.

That is cool! My mother in law got me something similar for Christmas. It is a wooden car kit, 1:10 scale, 735 parts, with 75 page instruction manual. Lots of moving parts. I believe it is powered by a couple of stout rubber bands, not a spring. Made by a company in Ukraine: ugearsmodels.com. It looks like this could take a LONG time to build! Looks like a great retirement project when I retire at the end of the year!

IMHO the locomotive would be even cooler if painted a Testors metalizer before assembly and all the parts buffed to replicate an aged steel look.

But bare wood woudl have to be heavily sealed and sanded/polished first. Otherwise, the thin metalizer paint would just soak into the grain.
