No offense, but I'd rather shoot myself than listed to the Dead.

A little drastic I would think, maybe just in the foot though!

I'm with you. I've only ever heard two Dead songs I like--"A Touch of Gray" and "Casey Jones." And Warren Zevon's cover of "Casey Jones" is better than the original. B)

great song to go with a Sunday morning cup of coffee in these times. but I enjoy listening to the Grateful Dead.  The Dead channel is the #1 preset on the radio in the car - lots of extended concert recordings that are  better than what plays on regular broadcast radio,

Like so many artist, either you like it or you don't. Can depend on the music you grew up with or your social group would listen to. Being a certain age can help in this case also. I rest my case.

I agree.

I'm no fan of the Grateful Dead either.

I'm much more of a Pink Floyd fan, which can also be an acquired taste. ^_^

LOL, not a fan either, but I've been told that to truly enjoy their music it helps to inhale some of those funny cigarettes (or now, edibles). :D

Pink Floyd works better for me, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and many others. All of those had their "drug days" too, so it is not like I'm singling out the "Dead".

Na, didn't need to be in outer space to enjoy some of their music.

Like you said they all seemed to pass through that stage in their music. They are all just pieces of that great puzzle of Rock Music.

I have most of the Grateful Deads music but reduced it down to two CD's I put together of my favorites.

Had many chances to attend their concerts but never did, just wasn't my scene.

Pink Floyd and Lead Zepplin are two more of my favorites along with Buffalo Springfield.

For me, musical escape groups are Def Leppard, Yes (the whole album 90125) and the Talking Heads.

I like those too.  To be honest, I don't have a single favorite band. How about Supertramp? I couldn't just pick one - I like bunch of various bands and types of music.  Just having one favorite wound be too restrictive.

The way I feel about music is maybe like potatoes.  I like many types of potato dishes and couldn't pick just one as a favorite. I like them mashed, French fries, breakfast potatoes, hash browns, baked, potato chips, and the list goes on.  I couldn't (and don't want to) just pick one favorite. I like them all equally!

Supertramp is quickly becoming one of my favorites...... The more I listen to them, the more I like. Their songs have purpose, and are more than just guitar power chords.

I'm maybe one of the biggest hippys you'll meet, but I never cared for the Dead's music..... Too folk'ish for me..... I DO however like what they stood for, and the fact that they let free music out to the fans.......
