I was planning on painting the entire Jeepster with the LP-20 light gunmetal, but after spraying the interior it looked way to shiny and sparkly. I gave the interior a coat of flat clear to tone it down a little.?  I had some TS-60 pearl green left over and thought it would look alright since it’s somewhat close to a factory color.
The windshield supplied in the kit is way too thick and interferes with the dash when the tub is tucked up into place. I cut a new one out of .015 clear sheet. I also upgraded the lump on the firewall to a Corvette master cylinder and booster.

This is one Awesome project!! From the axle and suspension upgrades to the way you blended the front clip. I like your engine choice! I had a friend that had a Cadillac engine in it. Excellent work!!!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. The body is now glued to the frame. It wobbled pretty bad, so I had to cut through a few of the mounts. I will re-shim them once the new wheels are mounted and it sits on all fours. I added the fuel filler tube that runs through the interior and was going to add one below also, but the body mount is in the way for them to line up...oh well. ? I built a new license plate light/mount and also built new tail light and reverse light lens from red sprue and a plastic bottle cap. The lens in the kit were not big enough for the frames and would have put the backup lights at the bottom, which is incorrect.

I added some disc brakes that I made from .025 aluminum and styrene sheet. I got these nice wheels and tires from Scenes Unlimited. They came with full wheel backs but I didn’t want to block them off. So I drilled the outers to fit my coat hanger axle shafts and made new inner rings from some pvc pipe. The tires fit a little loose on the rims so i added a .010 shim.

Great progress!  I had the same wobbles with mine, turned out to be how the rear axle sat in the springs.

Getting the chassis under the body has been a chore. I believe my frame is a bit warped as the rails past the rear axle lean to one side. I’ve glued up the chassis ahead of the axle and will glue and clamp the back end in place. Argh!

I’m pretty much done with this one. I want to put another coat of paint on the flairs before it goes “under glass “. I have a fifth tire, so I might try to fab a tire carrier for the back of it yet.

Very cool! It looks just great!

What did you do with the tailgate? It appears to have a hinge with the tail lights capturing a peg sticking out if either side of the gate.. or did you simply glue it shut?

That’s the way the kit is made. The pegs are part of the tailgate and are captured by the tail lights. It doesn’t fold down level with the bed like it should, but I didn’t want to mess with it since it won’t be displayed with it open anyway. The tire carrier turned out to be real simple to make. The hardest part was getting the spare rim to fit that tire.
