Does anybody know anything about this kit? Model Roundup says they have it in stock. Was looking for parts layout and what is enclosed. I'm more interested in it as a stock kit more so than the movie car.

Hmmm...I was hoping for a '72 rear bumper like the movie car, but that's a no-show. :( At least we got back the 4 bbl intake, carb, and air cleaner. Looks like you could more or less build it stock, too.

If only Round-2 would tool up '71-72 Plymouth Satellite specific parts to be fitted on the chassis and drive train of their '71 Charger kit, another thing sadly not done or approved by ERTL Management back when the Charger was designed.

There should be all the parts you need in there to build it stock as the new parts are shown in the one runner with the wheels, disc brakes and revised front suspension, along with the extra tires. A quick spin through 1:1 '71 GTXs that are for sale show a seemingly 50/50 split in cars that have the Air Grabber "hood door" hood the kit has had the past few reissues, and ones with the "Road Runner" style one included with the kit.

When I made a suggestion to Revell several years ago to reissue the '71 kit with a tie-in to F&F, I included the recommendation to add the '72 parts as part of the F&F version.   I believe this would have expanded the potential sales of the reissue.   Oh well....at least we got a reissue, and with the new and stock (non-air grabber/4440 4bbl) parts....TIM

But Revell of course can't not Revell, and I'm gonna guess that as this project was being finalized the Rona hit and when people got back to work they forgot to proof check the CAD. Sooooo we wind up with the new wheels having 3 engraved ones, and one...not so engraved one. It's like the wheel has the design inlay done, but never got the second pass of detailing that makes the other 3 wheels have crisp detail with two layers of depth on the surface. From what I've seen of a review build the weak surface engraving all but disappears under some primer and paint.

They have to already know, one would presume since if you look closely at the built model on the box side the problem is evident all the way back then.

Like you, I'm building it stock, so I don't actually care, but just tossing it out there for the group.

Those have to be worst looking wheels I've seen as far as execution. Look at how none of the raised ribs are centered on the spokes. Thanx for posting this photo James!

Too bad that Revell didn't tool a correct single four barrel induction ( intake , carburetor , and air cleaner  ; a Super Commando 440 air cleaner decal would be nice , too ) .

The induction from the original 'Satellite' is aftermarket ; the intake looks like a Torquer type ; the carburetor is , well , a lump ; and the open element air cleaner is a generic --but nice-- piece .

Those newly-tooled aftermarket wheels had potential ( and I'm not a fan of big-diameter wheels on classic cars ) . Too bad they phoned-it-in on those .

Just a heads up, they're not centered on the 1:1 wheels.NMQAuuw.jpg

I agree with you John on this !, I'm sure some resin caster would do up a proper stock 440 air cleaner ect .

16 years ago I built the c.1983-issue 1971 Satellite . I was hoping that the air cleaner from the AMT 1971 Charger would work --- too small ( 1/25 scale air cleaner vs. 1/24 scale vehicle ) , and it sat too-high on the carburetor . Would like to see Harts Parts give it a go : intake , Holley carburetor , correct air cleaner , and appropriate decal .

As a side note ; I've got a compulsion to rebuild that 'Satellite' . I've got an aerosol can of Curious Yellow with its name on it .

Too bad they didn't throw in the other hood as bonus part, have a kit (vintage Monogram Satellite) which is missing one.

esp since they left the hood door and under hood mechanism 1st parts pic

for me its kinda disappointing and about what I figured, since I've already built the Satellite and GTX a few times I just don't want to revisit it, was hoping the modern wheels might be nice and buy it for those but nope

To me, the 1/24th scale Monogram based Satellite/GTX runs a distant second to the MPC 71 RoadRunner. The grille is too tall i the headlight area, for one. While the MPC kit has its shortcomings, as well as being out of production for over 30 years (I don't think they realize they still have the tool) but it presents a much more pleasing shape in my eye. Speaking of Dom's GTX, Hot Wheels has a pretty nice one in their premium line (although it appears to have been scaled down from the Monogram kit.) But the fit and finish are super nice.
