kruleworld Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 My car just had it's annual full detail to clean it up and keep it looking mint. It's my 2007 Ford Falcon XR8 ute. it's a V8 (Boss 260) that i ordered new (made to order). I've resisted changing it from factory stock. only the stripes and front bull bar are aftermarket. i'm too crippled up to do a major wash now, so i get a detail company to come over and do their gold service clean and detail inside and out. Mike 1017 Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I would buy one if it was available in the US
plastic trucker Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I don't understand why they don't build them here in the states. I'd bet there would be a hugh market for them.
vintagerpm Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I've always loved the Aussie Utes. Saw a Holden running around Sugar Land, Texas, a couple of years ago. No longer made, though. One, Ford & GM closed their Aussie factories. Two, full size pickups with luxury interiors fill the spot Utes were created for - a vehicle that could hall farm stuff and was still nice enough for going to church.
Roncla Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 She looks a treat Walter. Our roads over the ditch here have no shortage of Holden/ HSV utes but Fords are thin on the ground and a XR8 like yours is as rare as hens teeth.
TarheelRick Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Beautiful ride, would love to find one. Really like that similarity with the Fox bodied Mustangs.

There just wasn't enough people to keep buying them as most had moved on to full size pickups.

Before GM started killing the Pontiac line after they had announced the Holden version of their Ute to be sold as a GTO here. I had a new '05 GTO and would have traded in a heart beat since I had owned several El Caminos in the past and really liked them.

In Ohio, that would have been classified as a 'truck' or 'non-commercial' so the state can make the extra $15 on the license plates.....I had to pay that on my Dodge Rampage. Ironically, the 2003 5,500 pound, V8 equipped, Dodge Durango was classified as a 'wagon' and has regular car plates.

iamsuperdan Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I love these Utes. But I think in North America, the market would be a lot smaller than you think. Towing capacity and payload aren't as high as say, a Tacoma or a Colorado. These don't come with four wheel drive, which will eliminate a huge portion of the potential marketplace. Then look at the sales of normal regular cab pickups. It is pretty small. So although there would 100% for sure be a niche market for these here, I don't think it would make a lot of business sense. Remember, before Pontiac was killed off, GM had briefly considered bringing the Holden Monaro Ute over here and badging it as a Pontiac, but then they squashed those plans.

For what its worth, they are nolonger available in Australia. Replaced by full-size pickups with luxury interiors.
