DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Wow!! That thing is detailed!! Looks great! This one is going to be awesome!
Mopar - D Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Thanks Brian, the rear suspension was very tricky with the springs being flexible and with this level of detail everything has to be in the right place for the axle to be level and square. I’m going to work on the front axle next.
Mopar - D Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 I’m back on the bench again after the holiday break. Started on the front suspension.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 What do you think about the stiffness of the coil springs in the kit? Mine are still in their packaging and I was also wondering about their fragility since they seem to be 3D prints.
Mopar - D Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 The springs are very flexible and gave me a lot of trouble attaching all the other suspension parts what I should of done was to use the solid springs in the regular kit to keep the axle in place while installing all the suspension parts and then change out the springs. Thats what I’ve done with the front axle and it helped a lot. The shocks are the only parts that will keep the axles level.
Mopar - D Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 Thanks Dave. Some progress on the exhaust and have the engine in place now.
kilrathy10 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I see you've been busy... The frame is looking quite nice....Oh, Wow... It's even got a winch, I see...
Mopar - D Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 I was wondering if any one was going to catch that.
Mopar - D Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 I’m now working on the interior started with some paint and a mock up.
iamsuperdan Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 I like that is has B-pillars. Makes it so much easier to add realistic seatbelts! And it also looks like it has the seatbelt buckles molded into the seats. Another nice touch. I always end up adding those myself. There is one item they got wrong though. Bucket seats have not been available on the Power Wagon at all. Well, not until now; the 2021 75th Anniversary Edition comes with buckets, but they are not available on any other PW.
Mopar - D Posted December 5, 2020 Author Posted December 5, 2020 Dan the kit includes the seat belts and PE clips but no female connectors in the seat l’m going to make some. I’ve painted the wheels my picture makes some of the spokes look silver but it’s the camera they are all black.
gotnitro? Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 See they even included the 12 " U connect screen ! Theres so much detail its very well done That pocket on dash makes a great spot for sunglasses! Gotta look like a fighter jock driving a Ram...negative ghost rider the pattern is full !!!
Mopar - D Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Thanks Dan, Jeff there’s a lot of details but then there’s some that’s missing or as Dan pointed out about the bucket seats. But overall it’s a great kit and worth the price. Continued working on the interior and started painting the body. Next will be to spray on the white.
Mopar - D Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 Tonight’s progress updates I chromed the RAM letters in the front grill, added some more colors to the door panels and started working on the seat belts. I’m going to have be fresh to get the seat belt material through the PE clips. I also attached the skid plates on the frame.
Mopar - D Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Seat belts are in place still have to make the buckles.
iamsuperdan Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 That's awesome that the B pillars and seatbelts were included.
mustang1989 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 This is turning into one helluva build Dan!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mopar - D Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 Dan when you take into account all the detail parts and PE parts included in the kit the price is right on. Thanks Joe. More progress on the interior now have the seat belts finished. The door panels and posts are attached to the body so they will be attached after I’ve painted it.
Mopar - D Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Thanks Jeff. Some test fitting before I spray on the white paint.
Mopar - D Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 I was able to get the white paint on today.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 You are progressing in leaps and bounds Dan! The paint looks very nice, did you have to do any finishing on the body before painting it?
Mopar - D Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Thanks Francis. I just did the normal preparation before painting.
