Flachbau/Flatnose/Slantnose originated from 935 when Porsche factory racing team found a loophole in Group 5 rulebook that the location of headlamps was not restricted, and they could modify the fenders.
Then Mansour Ojjeh who owns TAG asked Porsche to custom build street-legal 935 and everyone else wanted something similar - which motivated Porsche to start a program to hand build slantnose 930s for "regular customers" which has eventually become Exclusive Manufaktur program of today.

This is one of Tamiya's the very first release of 930 kit back in 1987. I don't think they ever reissue the slantnose version (they re-released the 88' turbo recently) and it's a fairly rare kit I believe. It's a very simple snap-tight kit with maybe 20 pieces in total - wipers, bumpers, and even turn signals and fog lamps are all molded into the body. Overall proportion looks great except for wider rear wheel house and much smaller tire than it really should be, and I also lowered the front & rear suspension to reduce wheel/fender gap.

Overall build only took 2 days (Toronto had a warm weekend temperature hovering around 45F and I had to finish within those days) and I used;

- Tamiya grey surfacer
- TS-17 gloss aluminum base coat
- TS-71 smoke layered on top of TS-17
- TS-13 clear
- TS-33 dull red for interior

- BMF for turn signal and fog lamps
- TS-6 matte black after the whole body was masked off

I initially wanted to simulate either Meteor Grey or Schwarz Metallic, but it turned out to be more brownish than I anticipated. Hope you guys enjoy!

That looks fantastic, excellent work! Just because it's a snap-fix kit with a limited parts count doesn't mean it can't be painted and detailed nicely, you've done it proud.

That looks good! I always wondered what Tamiya Smoke would look like sprayed over an aluminum/silver/gunmetal base. That dull red looks good as an interior color too.

Beautiful paint job. It is interesting how using a variety of paint colours can produce something unexpected but still looking like it could have been factory. A two day build you say, I couldn't create anything this nice if I had a month or more. I've been building models for decades but I'm humbled by the quality of your work.

That is beautiful.  I would agree with Robert Wheeler I couldn't produce that in a month  or more  let alone in two days.  Did you sleep at all?  Great job.

One weekend??? Beautiful, that interior looks great, perfect sheen on the "leather" seats.

Thank you! Tamiya flat TS colors make great texture for natural looking leather interior!

Super job! ? I've got TS-33 stocked ready for a Porsche interior: don't have to wonder whether it's right now! ?

It's a very versatile color indeed! Thank you!

Very awesome paint job, your build is very neat, i really like it !! ??

Dark color hides paint overruns!

Super nice build, love the paint, and the interior looks amazing! With the right kind of background shot that would look real!

Thank you! I need to think of nice diorama background!

Thanks. It's my second Tamiya 930 build and the masking job alone takes more than the entire rest of build!

It's definitely much more brownish than I thought. Even though I dried overnight the wet clear coat instantly 'melted' the smoke layer in certain areas. Ideally I would do 2-3 very light mist coats of clear on top when using smoke or other clear colors.

Thank you! I'd like to continue playing around with translucent colors. Usually I've seen clear red/orange on top of silver to simulate automotive metallic color w/o thick metallic flakes.

Appreciate it! I think overall it took about 8-10 hours to complete minus the drying time! Could've been tighter with the paint and masking but I really wanted to get it out the door before the snow storm.

Thanks for the info! I have a few ideas for using the Smoke over an aluminum/light gunmetal paint scheme, so definitely some spoon tests coming in the future, lol.

Beautiful model..

I wish Tamiya included tires with proper sidewall but it's pretty decent curbside kit!

Wow. You sure know how to lay down paint. Excellent work!

Appreciate it! I'm setting up a new paint setup with airbrush so we'll see if that improves!

Superb finish on that build . Fantastic .

Great how you post your paint and finish procedures on your threads . I find  those quite helpful in trying to achieve end results here .

Thanks Rob.  I wetsand with 2000 grit between almost every major stages (after primer, after base coat/before clear) then once the clearcoat is cured, I wetsand with 3000 grit sponge then apply tamiya compounds (all three  of them).

Hi Chang. I have the : Alpha Abrasives Ultra Fine Waterproof Finishing Kit .  I assume I can wetsand with their 2K grit .

Then I have these Micro-Mesh Cushioned Abrasives  , they're a square sponge . And I could do the 3K wet sand as you mention ?

Finishing off with the 3 Tamiya Compounds .

I have a Tamiya Mazda Savanna RX7GT motorized 1/24 scale kit , bought it used , not many interior parts . Tamiya TS-39 Mica Red , I think it'll look nice .

I personally use Tamiya 3000grit sponge and never used micro-mesh cushioned abrasives, but it sounds like a pretty similar material and should work out fine. I also apply fairly wet final coat to make sure I have least amount of orange peel without having to lay too many coats.  I've used TS-39 for my chaser build:
