Pat Minarick Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 May have found some different rims to use . I was thinking a flat dark goldish color. Going to use the Foose rims on my Magnum. 1
tooltime-fan Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Here ist some Update: Thought i might use chassis and interior of the GT500. Wheelbase ist equal....just lot of cutting, but better suspension of course. Not sure about the wheels... 21 might be a bit much 1
spencer1984 Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 The Dodge is coming together, hopefully not too much longer now! The supercharged Hemi has dual flex hose intakes taking cold air from right behind the grille, feeding a fabricated pressure box made from the factory air cleaners. Everything is tucked in there so as not to interfere with the plain flat hood, keeping the silhouette totally stock. As per the instructions, the auxillary gauges are supposed to be mounted on top of the dash. That was a little too obvious to me, so I moved them down to the transmission hump. 1

Misha Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 IMSA Camaro Update... It’s great to see all the builds progressing with such a variety of vehicles, yahoo! Been absent from the model bench with the summer like weather in the Cowichan Valley, yet did find time on the weekend to add more colour to the interior and chassis. Still a ton of parts to be primered though. Combining the interior with the body at this stage offers a coordinated colour scheme and lessens the starkness of the vinyl top against the body which I’m much happier with. Once more of the interior is done I’ll be moving to the L 71 motor and further chassis detail. The underside of the body still requires some paint detail, mainly with X18 in the wheel wells. Cheers Misha 1

Mattilacken Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 (edited) #19 Corvette.. humm.. Silverado C5R.. I made a start on the fuel cell increase to be able to run all the way cross country without a fuelstop! Or we can always hope ?A 170L increase in capacity will make the total capacity at at least 250L(66 gallons) so it might pass couple of states until refuel. Ride on! Pat Minarick Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Well I wet sanded and polished the paint out as much as I'm going to. I don't do shiny very often. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with it.
disconovaman Posted April 27, 2021 Author Posted April 27, 2021 Some Cool progress happening... Pat, I can see those purple mood lights hanging up in the paint ? that looks good...

But again it ain’t a inline turbo five we are talking here but a pickup with 7l 700hp V8 so I guess the consumption will be more than 5l/100km in 150mph? I looked it up now.. 4639 km it’s a fair bit of distance? Edited April 27, 2021 by Mattilacken
camaro69 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 (edited) Hey guys, there are some great projects going on here. It´s nearly two months ago now since my last post. There were a lot of work and family business to do. But at the last two weeks I had some time to get some things done on my "Monte ´pala" ?. First of all the stock Impala seats were not sporty enough to me so I searched my kits stash and found something better. These are from the Jada Camaro Concept Kit and will be casted. Then I thought about doing the oil line routing for the first time ever because oil pumps without oil pipes are useless (first try with 0.4 mm wire). Meanwhile I changed my mind and I will go with 0.6 mm wire. The adapter will be changed too because I think it´s to big. And I will try to do some fittings by myself... After that I wanted some parts to get painted to see some progress for myself... The chassis is already weathered a bit but not ready yet. scratchbuilt roll cage with pads... chassis base colored and weathered... Then this weekend I wanted to cast the Camaro seats. It´s the first time ever making a mold and casting resin. Therefore I think the result is not that bad. Preparing the 1st half of the mold... release the first half... One seat falls into it´s two pieces again and I had to reglue it... first mold piece... second mold piece... ready forc casting... fresh out of the mold... comparison between kit part (left), fresh out of the mold casting (middle) and grinded casting (right)... grinded and primed... We´ll see how they will look once installed. I will try to put them on rails like the real ones. I wish everyone here good luck and happy modelling. Rico Edited May 2, 2021 by camaro69 1

camaro69 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 #25 - Update... I wasn´t really happy with my first casting so I gave it a second try. This time I´ve choosen the wrong position for the overfloating pipes. But because I placed them on the lower front area of the seats I was able to fix the issues. They won´t be to be seen once assembled. I also tried to cast the Camaros steering wheel. For my second casting ever I´m now pleased with the results. Here are the pics... After fixing the issues at the seats there was time for some color again... (Revell africabrown matt / glossy white mixed 1:1) After drying I did a quick mockup of the chassis and the roll cage (not glued yet). I really like the color combo. Then this weekend after splitting the rear side windows on the body, cutting the rear side windows out of the glass and widthen the B-pillars I colored the clear part with a mixure a little bit lighter than the rest of the interior. Next will be a tricky thing. Coloring the black surrounding of the front and rear window... I hope you´ll like my progress. Any comments are much apprecciated. Rico 1

Mattilacken Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Great progress every one! Digging the collor combo on that Impala. Nice cage work!
Jantrix Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 My Vette is coming along very well. Happily, the racer kit comes with some of the stock parts, so I've added a stock exhaust system. I've debadged the body and got a lot painted. The body will be blue suede. I'll do some mild weathering just to show she's got some miles on her. 1
disconovaman Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 We're just over the half way point and there is some great progress going on here, Racers! The Excellent fab work and color choices are embracing the "Hiding in plain sight" theme very well Model On, Cats!
Pat Minarick Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 (edited) Just a question for you guys . Has anyone put a vinyl top on after painting the body ? Or anyone know how to? I have a bad spot and sanded a little to much on my roof so its getting a top or getting weather and rusty. Edited May 15, 2021 by Pat Minarick 1

I have a bad spot and sanded a little to much on my roof so its getting a top or getting weather and rusty. Easy fix! I had to do it on a glue bomb I rescued last year. Had a bad glue booger on the roof that I sanded out, but couldn't match the paint for. BVT to the rescue! 1. Mask off everything else (duh!) 2. Lay down one coat rattlecan flat black primer (I used cheap Touch N Tone, same as Walmart). 3. Lay down one coat of rattlecan satin or semigloss black, holding the can about a foot out so the paint lands "pebbly." If you don't have a rattlecan of satin or semigloss black, do the same thing with the flat black. A second coat might or might not be needed. DO NOT let the paint land wet or flow out, or you'll have to start over. 4. Finish with a coat or two of rattlecan clear satin, matte, or semigloss, whatever you can get. Again, hold the can about a foot out and don't apply it wet. If you used a good satin or semigloss black in step 3, you might have an acceptable finish already and not need to clearcoat it. 1
