cobraman Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Going to get started on this “thing” . I pretty much have it all cleaned up and sanded and ready for primer and paint . Not sure of color or colors yet but have a couple of ideas . I have some tires and wheels from a die cast I plan to use . I did have to modify the chassis plate to allow for the larger tires I am using . Weird perhaps but I thought it looked cool .
Dave Van Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 OK...kinda cool...is it a tractor trailer set up or a 2 axle truck w/box??? There is a video on Youtube about 'Road Trains' of the future. The film was from the early 40's and it showed drawings of truck with a cab much like your model, many trailers with the same cross profile, all followed by a unit much like supplied.
cobraman Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 It's a 2 axle box truck. Gotta look at that video you mentioned.
kilrathy10 Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 This should be an interesting build... I'll be looking forward to this...
misterNNL Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Please show us some more views please including a front end one so I decide wether of not I need(?) to get one of my own. Thanks.
NOBLNG Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Interesting project Ray. I think a tri-wheel conversion like this would look good on it.?
cobraman Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 Making some progress on this thing . Body in primer and I am figuring out the stance . A bit too low in the front . I may just trim the front of the body to get a bit more ride height . Hey , maybe it’s just on air bags !
NOBLNG Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Just wondering...how does one enter and exit that vehicle??

cobraman Posted January 20, 2021 Author Posted January 20, 2021 I don't know what they are to be honest. It's just a model I liked and never thought about how a person would get in and out . Just a design study. ?
Steve H Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Hi Ray, this is a really interesting build. I haven’t seen one before. As a guy that “likes ‘em low” I like the mocked up ride height, looks fantastic. Have you picked a colour? Seems to me that almost any colour would look cool on this. Steve

Paul Payne Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Plenty big enough for some radical graphics! Thinking about an engine, or just a curbside build? Looks like a cool interior, but it will be hard to see with those narrow windows. Looking forward to how this project develops!
cobraman Posted January 21, 2021 Author Posted January 21, 2021 Thank you fellows. Steve, as for colors I am leaning towards Tamiya Coral Blue and white. While graphics would be cool they are not my strong suit. I was thinking maybe some signage but not sure. It will be curbside for sure.
slusher Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I like the sleek look. Just an idea could you use larger wheel and tires?
cobraman Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 Thanks Carl ! I finished the interior . Had to add a steering wheel and put self stick felt in for carpet . Once installed you won’t be able to see much if any of this .
misterNNL Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 That cab design opens the design options door wide open. I would personally consider adding some steps into the back side of those huge fenders leading up to the existing door rear edge. Or...you could fabricate the appearance of a forward tilting cab section. The ideas are almost endless here. I might even consider closing those wheel openings are .making this a anti gravity hover vehicle. I already have the engine built for that version.
