bisc63 Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Long time lurker here, I have precious little time to build as much as I'd like. Nontheless, I DO occasionally finish one! I'll be posting a few that I just removed from storage after a few life changes and moves. While finished kits when they went into storage, a few small parts are MIA, but will be replaced as I come across them. First up is my take on the Lindberg 1961 Impala convertible:
bisc63 Posted February 6, 2021 Author Posted February 6, 2021 Dang epoxy went on so clear, but yellowed my headlights over the years. Don't know where my convertible boot went... also my rear view mirror...
doorsovdoon Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Still looks good, I like the interior and engine bay detail.
Spottedlaurel Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Looks good to me Rusty. You need to get more finished of this standard, look forward to seeing what else you unearth.

Classicgas Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Nice. Yes, epoxy sometimes turns yellow like that. What decals did you use for the seat inserts?
Steve H Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Nice Impala Rusty. Great stance and colour, nicely detailed engine bay. Nice to see some of your builds showing up here. Cheers, Steve

The seat decals were from Scale Motorsport, still available I believe. They add a lot of nice detail to those 60s era seat fabrics.
Kromolly Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 That car is beautiful! I have to ask about your paint color. Years ago I built a '62 Bel Air for my brother-in-law, based on his 1:1 '62 Impala. His 1:1 was that same metallic red and I replicated it with a mix of Model Master Kiln Red metallic and Stoplight Red Metallic. I wish I had pictures of that one. I built the hardtop below to replicate another '61 color combination.

The color was some touch-up paint in the small spray cans, and I believe it was a GM color, but it has been a few years since I did that one so I'm not sure of the specific code. The interior colors I just mixed from enamels until I liked it. Your bubble top looks nice! I've also built the drag race version of this kit, but haven't stumbled across it yet. Fun builds!
espo Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Great looking convertible. I like the stance and the colors. The interior turned out great as well.
Grumpa Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Beautiful build Rusty! Nice choice on the later "Rally Wheels"...they look great on this!
Bills72sj Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Very nicely done. I like the rallys and especially the stance. Your interior detail is excellent.

I like Chevy's Rally wheels on just about anything; simple but attractive style. I ran them on my '81 Monte Carlo back in the late 80s, and my '63 Biscayne before that.
