I have been very slowly working on a build of this same kit.  Presently multitasking about 4 builds simultaneously but not making any real progress on any of them as I recover from a foot surgery.  It's kind of awkward at the modeling bench on crutches so I'm not getting much done.  I've adapted six two barrel carbs that I took from one of my '29 roadster kits for the intake (oh, forgot that one, there are actually 5 builds underway).

I am going for a custom look and have spent a lot of time with figuring out how to lower the front suspension.  I've not attempted this sort of thing before so it has been an interesting challenge.  Love the wheels on yours and and the way you've adapted them.

I'm especially impressed with the plug wiring!  I've been looking at mine and wondering if I dared try to drill the holes to route the plug wires as you have done which corresponds to what I've found in online photos.

Nothing I can say about the paint that hasn't already been said : spectacular in black!

Good to know on the exhaust clearance issue.  I'm made note to do a bit more pre-assembly checking and try to correct that before I paint.

I'll be following this build and look forward to seeing the finished product!

You are lucky to have the hobby to keep you occupied whilst you recover from surgery. Sometimes with builds they can be about just trying idea's or going with what is of interest at the time. So many ways to find enjoyment with kits.

Doesnt take much to lower this kit, raise the spindle on the front and cut the springs in the rear.

Drilling the valve covers was a bit nerve racking, the grooves help to locate the drill and if you drill in from each side it will make it easier to get accurate clean holes. I used .5mm kynar wrapping wire for the plug leads.

Pre assembly and test fitting is a good idea to become familiar with how the kit goes together and see if there is any fit issue's.

Thanks for your interest and kind words.

Been dreading getting to the BMF, havent foiled for ages.

And after reading the issues many people had with the latest Chrome version of BMF, I thought why not give that a try to see what the issue was..........

Got set up and spent about 8hrs applying the BMF.

I will say it is possible to get the latest Chrome version applied and I managed ok I guess. But man it is challenging to work with. I found you have to burnish way more than the New Improved. Also seems take a bit more pressure to cut. Can easily be moved out of place, it adheres but not a strong hold. Its definitely made from a different softer alloy, after cutting the cut edge is slightly raised, use to be able to burnish that down. It dulls the blade, normally I can do a whole car with one blade this did take two. And finally it leaves a lot of adhesive residue behind. Thats what I encountered.

It does the job, but no where near as good as New Improved. Better than nothing I suppose and will take a few builds to get use to.

Placed the quarter moldings on for a quick suss.

And couldnt resist putting the body on the chassis for a mock.

Certainly not my best BMF job, but thats what I get for using the Chrome version and being out of practice. Well thats my excuse anyways.

Would really like to see Peteski tackle a 57 Chevy Bel air with the latest batch of BMF ?

That looks pretty darned good for being Chrome stuff , gives us all a little hope !  I've practiced on an old body and ran into the same issues you describe but haven't gotten results as good as yours yet .  I do agree that it takes much more pressure to cut cleanly and eliminate the tearing issue , which in turn dulls the blade very quickly .  If that's what it takes I'll just stock up on blades and give it a try on my next project .

Looks great Luke. Concerning the foil, I just recently got a sheet of the Matte and as far as I'm concerned the application and stickiness is like the old original chrome foil. It does seen maybe a bit thinner tho.  Burnishing it with soft cloth actually bring out the shine to chromelike look.

Its workable and achievable with the Chrome version, I found a need to be more patient to get it in place and trimmed.  And yeah have a few spare fresh blades on standby.

Yeah ive read about the Matte, seems to be a solution. When I run out of New Improved and Chrome I will see if any is available in Australia.

Nice work on getting the foil on.  Looks like a 1:1.

Challenging, but worth while.  Once the remaining exterior parts are attached should bring it all together and hope its resembles a 1:1.

Thankfully got the last of the BMF done, applied New Improved to the trim on the interior door panels.

Applied this flat clear the red section, then removed it from the trim using a small Tamiya cue tip moistened with levelling thinner.

And for the chrome on the winder and handle used this paint marker, pumped a small amount into a mini paint tray and applied with a fine brush.

Just need to detail the dash and then the interior can be assembled.

I am of the belief when doing black paint with no clear, that the finished paint will only be as good as the surface beneath it.

Got the paint applied couple hours ago.

Looks great! Airbrush or spray can?

The paint and foil look great! The red interior is an excellent contrast too.

Thanks for your tips regarding the foil. I have two packages that I just ordered and I'll probably have to crack into them soon.

For body's ive always preferred the TS-14 Black from the spray can. But it can decanted and if applied just right it will come out just as good.

 What color is the red?

Tamiya TS-49 bright red.

That looks Sweet Luke. I just don't know how you guys do it with the Tamiya TS spray cans.  I just spayed my 60 Ranchero with TS-41 Coral Blue yesterday and it will not come out looking as slick as yours after wet sanding and polishing.  Great job.
