Sharp, very sharp.

My vote is for this set of wheels.

Hi Sam! Thanks for checking in. I appreciate the input on the wheels.

Following. Love the two door. I vote for the 2nd set of wheels depending on color. Nice engine choice.

Hi Bill, the body will be Vedoro green, fairly dark colour if you’re not familiar with it. Wheels, probably bronze or maybe magnesium. Thoughts? I think the engine will look great.

Moving on nicely Steve. I vote for those new wheels too.

Hi Nigel,  nice to hear from you sir. Sounds like these wheels are winners, I have a few other set of tires to try with them, but it will probably be this combo. Thanks for the feedback!

Cheers, Steve

Hi Matthijs,  nice to have more international input!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Wheels chosen, now just need to play with some colour choices.

Thanks, Steve

I know Vedero Green. A good friend in HS had a similar color on his 67 Firebird 400. Bronze? I could see that. Enjoy.

I like the way they incorporated the colors: wheels, interior, striping etc. I could even imagine the engine painted in gold (in this example).

That’s what I’m talkin bout !!! Wicked! Thanks for sharing that. I think the intake plenum will be body colour. There definitely could be some gold/bronze highlights here and there. I absolutely love the Vista Cruiser wagons.

I think I like the T's better. Mostly because of the staggered size. And they look cool with painted spokes. The second set of wheels are nice also. But, they would look better IMO with a taller tire on the rear. Sometimes, same size front and rear will give the illusion that the front wheels are bigger. Maybe it's something to do with the size of the wheel opening. Verdero green sounds like a perfect color for it. Maybe a Champagne Gold interior and engine?

Hi Roger, I am a huge fan of the T’s and agree about the staggered size, and painted spokes. (See below)  I’m going to go with the second set of wheels to be different. Still playing with some tire options, as I agree that the rears needed to be a pinch taller. I had been thinking grey or green for the interior but gold/champagne are definitely strong contenders for accents and interior now. Thanks for sharing your opinion, much appreciated indeed!

Hi all, time for a small update. I’ve been a bit busy, (and a bit lazy) so not a lot has happened. However, today my paint arrived!! I found a cheeky way to get paint delivered from U.S to Canada, sshhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone. I am inspired to get going again. There was a fair bit of sanding, filing, fitting of chassis and body. Have it almost sorted out. The body has given me fits. I will need to spend some time to get the twist in the body straightened out a bit.

I shortened the firewall:

The engine is cleaned up and primed, I just need to decide on colours now. I take plenum will almost for sure be body colour.

I have already decided on which colour but for the sake of conversation... left spoon is Vedoro green over black, right spoon is Vedoro green over silver.

The colour looks more the same in photos, there is a fair difference in person.
I would love some feedback on colour choice. Now that I have the body colour paint I will start playing with wheel/engine/interior colours. There will almost certainly be some gold or bronze. Hoping to gain a bit of momentum to get this build finished.

As always, comments and input welcomed, and thanks for having a look.

Cheers, Steve

Steve,

Absolutely loving what you're doing here. The work is outstanding, and I love the concept. As I looked at the profile of what you have so far, I wondered what it might look like with the 'B' pillar moved a few inches forward and canted slightly more forward, so opened up P-Shop and did a little playing around. (Just added a second image toying with the B-pillar widened with some 55-56 BelAir-inspired vents. Just food for thought/consideration. Whatever direction you go, I know the finished result will be outstanding. Enjoying the ride...

I like the green over silver best. Over black looks a little too dark. Maybe try it over gold and get it somewhere between the two?

I don't know the diameter of your wheels. But, check the tires from the old Revellogram kits like the Mach III, Alternomad, Vetagin etc. They're what I use on the Pegasus wheels. You'll have to cut out the center rib. You may also have to heat them a little with a lighter to make them more pliable and able to stretch over the wheels.

Looking forward to seeing this in paint! But, don't rush it on my account!

Over black looks pretty good to me. I've always liked that darker green. The WIP's looking pretty good, can't wait to see more.

Green over silver. I like the brighter look of it.

Ditto. One more vote for the silver base. In fact, if it were mine I'd be tempted to leave the top in silver.

As for the difference between the two base coats I think it would be which looks best to you. The thing that got my eye was the finish on the paint. In a couple of pictures it looks as though the green color is reacting to the base coat,

Hi guys, time for a long overdue update. I’ve had next to no time at the bench in a while for various reasons. Managed a few days with some quality desk time. Decided to get some work done on the interior.

The kit console comes as a chrome piece…

I stripped it, (easy off oven cleaner) then painted it to match interior. Added Birdseye maple decals, detail paint, and BMF.

most of the interior is now painted, still a few bits to paint and some detailing, but it’s close.

A quick mock up of interior…

Also got a bit done on the engine. I plan on trying to spend some more time on the engine in the coming week. Chassis parts have been cleaned up, hoping to get them in primer soon.

Hard to tell in the photo, I’m not a great photographer, but the plenum and valve covers are Vedoro green.

Hoping to keep some momentum here….

As always, thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

Cheers, Steve

Hi David, you are absolutely right. The issue wasn’t so much a paint issue, as it was a rushing issue. I tend to rush my test spoons… I have since confirmed that the paints are compatible. Thanks for the input, much appreciated!

What a great looking interior. Crisp clean dash and console details, the flocking on the door panels looks great, all of it does really. Good stuff!

That is a super nice looking interior Steve! I really like the work on the console! I take it you used embossing powder? If so, what brand do you recommend? I'm thinking about trying it on my current project. I've always used baking soda for carpet before. But, it has to be painted.

Hi Steve!

I had an absolutely busy spring, and somehow, I missed on this built... I'm the most sorry for it!

Great project, and your attention to details shows again. Masterfull. I like your "color-coordination" efforts. They are effective in all your cars, and this one will be a magnum opus. The interior is world-class.

My two cents: the second set of wheels makes it more contemporary than the Pegasus. And the lighter base coat for the green would get my vote. Just MHO.

Keep on!

Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to check in and show me some possibilities. That photo shop stuff is awesome. I’m going to stay with what I have (for several reasons) but I truly appreciate the input. Sorry for the VERY late reply, I’ve been busy with other stuff and haven’t been on the board much.

Agree wholeheartedly with above post.

Nice job so far. Maybe try that green over yellow on a spoon?

Thank you Mike! Time for me to come clean on the paint… For my eye, my preference is the green over black, and that is what I’m using. It creates a great “shadow” effect when not in direct light, then brightens right up in direct light. That of course doesn’t show up well in photos. Having said that, I love all the feedback and ideas that have been shared.
