TransAmMike Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Very nice Thomas, pretty amazing how huge the rear glass was on those cars. Good work?
Snake45 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Many have talked about building one of these, but I think this is the first one I've actually seen done. Wish the pics were sharper as it looks like a nice model. Model on!
thomascoffey1959@gmail.com Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 Thank you all, your opinions are valued. Sorry about the pics. working on it. but there is something to be said in favor of poor photography,,,, it hides A LOT !
Classicgas Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Cool. Thinking of doing this with a mpc 69 I have if I can find the interior tub. I've got it, just not sure where.
espo Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I like how you built this as something that would have been on the road back then. Looks sort of like an FX Drag car from the era. I had a sister-in-law who bought a new one with the 273 and auto. She was still driving it when she was no longer my sister-in-law.
thomascoffey1959@gmail.com Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 I was inspired by an article on the mid 60s fx hemi darts and cudas. I was going to try my hand at correcting the rear wheel openings, but decided it was above my skill level . I've got another somewhere, maybe a wip cant did it.
Kromolly Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I like it. Very nice, clean build and good color choice.
kruleworld Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 nice conversion. How easy was the duster chassis to fit?
thomascoffey1959@gmail.com Posted March 20, 2021 Author Posted March 20, 2021 The duster chassis had to be shortened a bit, maybe 3/16s of an inch.
Tom Geiger Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Great work! I love to put the Duster chassis under Barracudas and Valiants. Here’s an illustration of the necessary cut. The exhaust is separate. Cutting here results in a great joint that requires very little if any cleanup.
