bbowser Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Very basic kit, low parts count, perfect slump buster. I think this is a repop of the old Airfix kit? Styrene tires, wonky wheels, I think it turned out OK. Comments welcome.
Gramps46 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 You really captured the feel of this beast. Well done and thanks for sharing it.
1959scudetto Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Looks good, Bruce - this is a re-pop of the old Merit kit from the 50's, which has been reissued several times by Smer (Czech Republic) and actually from Mistercraft(Poland) - it represents the 1947 GP Belgium winner, driven by Louis Chiron - here is a link: https://mistercraft.eu/en/23-racing
Bainford Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Nicely done. The colour looks pretty close to the real thing. I recently bought one of these, and have seen a few show up on the board lately. For a very basic kit, they look great on the shelf.
papajohn97 Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Amazing job on those one-piece clear wire wheels. How did you paint the spokes? Free-hand? Dry-brush? Beautiful job overall.

Beautiful job overall. The wheels came out much better than I expected. I just dry brushed the spokes with Testors Chrome silver, nothing fancy. Thanks to all for the compliments!
Dave B Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Nice building Bruce, looks the part. The old Merit kits do build nicely, especially with Herb Deeks wire wheels. Dave B
Jasper018 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) Just seeing this now ,,,, looks great best example of a only in box parts kit I have seen Great stuff ,can. I ask what color and brand you used for the body ? Edited November 21, 2021 by Jasper018
bbowser Posted November 22, 2021 Author Posted November 22, 2021 It's been a while, but I think its Rustoleum Sky Blue spray bomb.
Rich Chernosky Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Bruce...we all get in slumps from time to time. This one was a great way to break out. Nice job.

Bugatti Fan Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Very nice build and well worth the effort. There are not many kits in 1/24th scale of racing cars from the 50's. That old Merit Talbot Lago kit has certainly been around a bit via different manufacturers over the years. Back in the day this kit and the Alfetta that Merit made were described as superkits as they had rudimentary engine detailing included. The little Cooper was the only other Merit kit that I can remember having engine detail. The others in the series were as far as I can remember were kerb side models. They used to supply the clear plastic inserts for the wire wheels with a decal with the spoke pattern on them. Heller also did a Talbot Lago from about the same era that was from their own tooling, so probably a bit more detailed as a kit.
