Joe Handley Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I’ve bought a few of these and started all of them, but yet to finish one. I grabbed this one and threw the rolling stock from their ‘34 3 Window snap kit, set it low then eventually did some clean up of what little flash there is and a bit of sink mark filling on the decklid.
Joe Handley Posted May 19, 2021 Author Posted May 19, 2021 Also got this one for free many years ago, the roof was crushed badly, so I took the bubble top from their T-Bird kit but have yet to really break out the Dremel to make it work. I really need to do something with this one, it would be pretty wild if done right.
Joe Handley Posted May 19, 2021 Author Posted May 19, 2021 Finally, there’s this one I need to find and finish, I was going to go more along the lines of a cruiser or low rider with this one. https://instagram.com/p/BW4KHunBs52/ Still think it need some flake heavy paint and maybe a stainless looking roof to go with it!
doorsovdoon Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I like that bubble top, cool solution to the crushed roof!

Those wheels/tires look PERFECT on that! Drive on!

cobraman Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 That's a cool kit. I built one and just bought another.
bisc63 Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I dig the bubble top, but it looks a bit oversized to me( just my HO ) I think it would benefit from removing about 1/8 inch all the way around the bottom; would not only bring it down, but would shorten it a few millimeters. However you go, I'll be watching with much interest! This is just a cool concept!

I'm kinda wondering how the kit wheels from this would look on the '63 Stingray Roadster or the '05 Impala Cop Car kits now that I've bought a couple of those too as well as the from those two onto yet another one of these.....?

My plan for the past 5 years is to break out a Dremel and try to sink the top into the body all the way around by the thickness of the hood and decklid, I just have yet to do so...................

charlie8575 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I wonder how tough it would be to fit the stock wheels/tires from one of the glue kits to this? Charlie Larkin

Joe Handley Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 Got two of the 57’s together, the one with the Big and Littles and the Bubbletop, with the big inch 5 Spoke wheels of the ‘63 Stingray roadster kit, which seem to work on it.
Joe Handley Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 Also tried the ‘57 kit wheels and tires on the Stingray that donated the Bubbletop’s wheels as well as the ‘05 Impala Cop Car. Think I’ll be using them on these builds instead, they’ll have their own threads though.
bisc63 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Good choice all around on wheels. That Impala looks snazzy wearing those!
mikemodeler Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Those Revell Snapper kits are fun to build. They have some of the most accurate body dimensions and build up nicely with some detailing. Nice variety Joe, get busy and show them to us when you're finished!
Joe Handley Posted May 23, 2021 Author Posted May 23, 2021 Got the Street Machine ‘57 in primer, no clue what I’m going to paint it though.

I had to get one myself and I did yesterday with the 40% sale at HL, $15 with tax hard to pass up. I haven't decidid on a color either. Good luck on yours Joe.
Joe Handley Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 (edited) Ok, a few updates here, To start, found the lowrider-ish build a couple weeks ago! Since it’s molded in the same red plastic, decided to combine it with the bubble top car to try and make a really radical show car out of the two! so I also bought a current black and red issue and swapped the white interior into it so I didn’t have to deal with the red plastics if I want to use lighter colors on the interior of it……. This one is currently nosed, decked, mostly shaved and scuffed like the red one was when I put it away. This and the primered one with the wheels from the ‘34 3 Window kit are waiting for the rainy and humid weather we’re getting here in the Chicagoland area to go away so I can start shooting them with more primer and then color coats. Now back to the Bubble Top Show Car……….. It’s quickly turned into a sci-fi looking flying car like creation that will fit nice along side the Thundercougarfalconbird build going on here if at some point in their existence, they end up in the same place???♂️? And no, there weren’t any intoxicants or psychedelics involved in this one……..just large amounts of that Bondic UV Resin Edited June 29, 2021 by Joe Handley
David G. Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Cool mods on the bubble top! Can't wait to see how this one works out. David G. 1
Joe Handley Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 1 hour ago, David G. said: Cool mods on the bubble top! Can't wait to see how this one works out. David G. Thanks David! I need to make tit to a hobby shop that has a better selection of Sci-Fi spacecraft than Hobby Lobby does as I’m stick on what to do for propulsion and can’t really plan an interior when I don’t know what’s going to happen under the car yet. I have decided that the openings in the fenders would make great steering thruster ports, been debating about looking for some AMT Parts Pack Injector Stacks for that job though. I even thought that either sticking a figure or two with it as a display once done would be fun too. Maybe look for a figure that might look like a young Ed Roth from when he was in the military and an appropriately sized figure of the alien Paul from the movie of that name with the working title/name of “Earthlings built my Spaceship” since I seem to remember seeing somewhere Roth claimed he was at one time on UFO lookout in an Alaskan AFB and in the movie story line, Paul is one of the Roswell, NM crash aliens and IIRC, the only survivor of the crash, basically a “What If” build around the claim and that movie since the time periods line up surprisingly well. The other though was one with Ferb and Vanessa from “Phineas and Ferb” and calling it “My Ride from Outter Space” loosely based on the “The Chronicles of Meep episode where Ferb “fixed” Meep’s shuttle after it crashed to Earth then took it for a test drive montage that became the video clip below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbugHkuFsTg
