Deuces ll Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) Here's an idea I picked up some years ago.... Insert a Testors 1/2 oz bottle in a spray can cap like so... That way you don't accidentally knock the bottle over with a paint brush and make a big ol' mess on your work bench.... This has probably been posted before so credit goes out to the Modeler that first came up with the idea....?? Edited May 23, 2021 by Deuces ll
NOBLNG Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 Nice idea! And if you use one of those battery powered mixers, slip an empty TP tube over the jar so it doesn’t spray all over when you pull the mixer out.?
youpey Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 i accidentally tipped over a full bottle of tamiya extra thin cement. it smelled up the house and i couldnt stop coughing the day. i probably breathed in too much smell of it. (or it was in our head)
1930fordpickup Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 I would have to cut the top down so it was not taller than the edge of the small bottle. If not I would knock it over some how.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Once when my workbench was way too crowded, I knocked over an open bottle of liquid cement too. Since then, I've put them in broad-based heavy coffee mugs...and tried to keep my bench a little less cluttered.

(or it was in our head) I knock over a full bottle of industrial strength Loctite on my bench and spent all day cleaning and Sanding my bench. Now it sits in a juice glass open or closed. I like applying it with a toothpick…
doorsovdoon Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I dropped an open bottle of blackwash on one of my builds a few months back. Luckily it cleaned off easily and didn't damage the paint, it left behind perfect panel lines all over the body though, Lol. Another booboo that often happens with me is brushing a loaded paintbrush against something, usually the painted bodyshell, as is written in murphy's law!
stitchdup Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I once cut some foil in the palm of my hand because i was in a hurry, wont be doing that again. I've also got out of the shower and grabbed tamiya paint instead of deodrant. My booth isn't in the bathroom anymore

An older lady I used to work with told a story about how her husband went into a dark bathroom and grabbed what he thought was a tube of Preparation H (hemorrhoid cream if you don't have it on that side of the pond). After a liberal application he came to find out that he had grabbed the Bengay instead (menthol and methyl salicylate topical pain reliever that makes the applied area warm and tingly). She said that it was one of the funniest things she had ever seen.
Zippi Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I knocked over a full bottle of Testor's gloss black. I'll have to try the spray paint cap idea.

John1955 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 When I was a kid, band aids were always needed when my brothers and I were using hobby knifes while building models. I recall one time when I really did a number on my finger and was bleeding and my older brother yelled at me, " Be careful, don't get any blood on that car!" Nice that he was so concerned, LOL.

Deuces ll Posted May 31, 2021 Author Posted May 31, 2021 Yep!... The one red cap I showed was light snug fit so you shouldn't have any problems exchanging Testors a bottle from one color to another color.... The cap I used was from a Rust-Oleum spray can.... Hope that helps...
