Yes, only car they make for the US market and it's in a small suv form as well.

Oh boy...watch .... here comes the revolt from Ford Mustang junkies. If that is the supposed new “Mustang”, that is wrong! Everybody from the top down, including the CEO and designers should be fired.

So, you guys think they'll come out with a Grabber version of this new pickup?????......??

Nah. But there will most certainly be an Urban Adventurer version with special compartments for all the necessary gear; just think of it as a big shiny 4-door purse with plenty of room to haul bales of organic kale.

I guess you haven't heard. Anything remotely aggressive or...gasp..."masculine"...has been identified as toxic.

Can't have fun-to-drive 2-door "sport" vehicles that might upset some delicate sensibilities. Gone going the way of the dodo, along with the manual gearbox.

Get with the program, man. It's a brave new world.  B)

I'm glad I did the right thing and bought mine with a 6-speed Manual gear box...... It's more fun to drive...?

Looks like it could compete with the Chevy Colorado and it's GMC stable mate.

That is what the Ranger is for (traditional BOF truck).   This is a smaller light duty model.

REAL trucks / work vehicles have rubber-vinyl floor mats . Carpeting has no place in a work vehicle . Did it take the moving-of-mountains to get a pickup sans frills and tech ?

My Ford dealer has to fight for these 'real trucks' from Ford. They get all they can find but yes, the ratio of work trucks to luxo trucks is high.

I'm sure it's been mentioned in the comments already, I'm not going to read all of them, but the Maverick name seems to suit the truck more than the car anyways, lol.

As an aside, the OP pic is a rendering, not the actual truck. Official launch is tomorrow.

The Maverick is a small truck, shares some of its underpinnings with the new Bronco Sport. Will be more of a competitor for the Honda Ridgeline. Like the RIdgeline, it's unibody, 4 cylinder, AWD or FWD. And it's perfect for what most people who think they need a truck actually need. It's a car with a big trunk. Perfect for tossing some bikes in the back, or a quick run to Home Depot, or maybe towing a small tent trailer. It's not designed to be a "real" truck, and that's not the target audience for this thing. People need to stop comparing it to half tons trucks, let alone the 1/4 ton trucks like the Colorado. That's like comparing a Civic to a Charger. Not the same market.

It's not for me, but I think they'll do well with it. And it will pave the way for other small trucks.

And it looks like a truck.

People don’t buy sedans. Huge percentage of new car sales are little SUVs. Best selling Toyota and VW are SUVs. People drive poorly, so trucklike vehicles are preferable. I rarely see new work trucks, just hard loaded big pickups with one person in them, or cute utes/bigger SUVs. Ford stopped making sedans because nobody buys them. This will sell. And nobody remembers the Maverick or Comet. 74 month financing very common, so people upside down immediately.
Sad, but Ford isn’t in business to lose money. They sell 2.5 F150’s a minute. Big profit in trucks in general.

i took a look at it this morning. i am surprised how similar it is to the size of the ranger. i thought it was supposed to be much smaller

https://www.ford.com/trucks/maverick/2022/#reservation

this one shows the size differences

https://www.engadget.com/ford-maverick-hybrid-pickup-100057297.html

its 11 inches smaller.

i also wish it was available with the 2 doors. i dont think i would consider this at all. especially with this costing 25k for the awd version. i would just get the 4wd colorado with the v6 for 3k more during truck month sale

Here you go. You can get a nice one for around 10 grand, a low-mileage creampuff for around 20. They're simple, tough, they will go anywhere, and will run forever.

This, trucks are bought by enough people who don’t actually need, most would be better off with a minivan, but that’s not a macho machine that feeds an ego.

I'm still trying to figure out why this tiny truck comes with a bottle opener, and my new F150 didn't.

Probably figured somebody who'd buy an F150 had strong enough hands to do without...   B)

EDIT: What surprises me is that the opener isn't motorized, with a phone app to run it.

Silly me...that's probably part of the special Urban Adventurer upgrade package.
