Looking forward to seeing both...some day... -RRR The 49er was really manufactured to be a cheap toy with 2 levels of entertainment. One, a puzzle for kids to put together, and then to play with. Note the really robust design of the front spokes and the heavy duty pin used to attach it to the axle. It's meant to be played with. The rest of the tooling is highly simplified, with the engine block, supercharger, scoop, oil pan and "trans" all molded as 2 halves. And the roll bar just connects to the body, there is no frame under the "skin". That being said, the unique parts presented here are opportunities for a really cool build, at many different levels of detail (depending on how aggressive the builder wants to get) I have two glue bombs of these, and I fully intend to do something cool with them, while still picking up at least one of the new Atlantis versions as a blank slate. I'm sure a RRR version would be outstanding By the way, love your Mooneyes build. For me it's the standard that any other should be compared to as far as cleanliness of the build and highlighting the potential that kit has. Edited July 14, 2021 by Mr. Metallic

Thanks for the link Yes, the 49'er is a very simple little kit, but it is a missing link the in the Drag Racing Model kit collection for many of us, and it will be nice to finally have one for way less than ebill prices.
OldNYJim Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Who was it here who makes those awesome little wire wheels, with actual wire? Those would look cool on one all of these! And, admittedly, probably double the value of the build, but still...
Bill Eh? Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I'm not sure if these are the ones you were thinking of. "curt raitz", on this forum has sets that he makes under the name miniscurtraitzing, TruWire, in four different sizes. As others have said, they are fantastic. There is a thread here from December, 2020 with a topic heading "dragster wire wheels". I wish I knew how to link a whole topic thread here! LOL

OldNYJim Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 That's the name! I couldn't remember it, but yes! Curt makes some really nice looking wheels! And yes, it would really add to the look of any of these!
Dave Van Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 You buy the Moon Eyes and th 49'er kits.....looks like you have a bunch of stuff to build two cool cars.....they both have a decent MSRP too.....so cheap fun!

Parts Pack C1101 has the SBC with potvin blower but not the dragster headers. Pack C1107 has the right headers but not the front mounted blower..... This is C1107 (above). See at the top of the pic, the side swept headers.... This is pack C1101, potvin blower but sans dragster swept side headers....hmmmmm....these pix are from my collection of original parts packs, maybe they were changed over the years? ...and as I go to the bench while I'm typing and check out a newer C1101 (the ones in the yellow and blue packaging) and snap a quick pic, and as I suspected, the C1101 pack has been changed, removing the block hugger headers and adding the swept back headers (they seem kinda short, don't they?)!!! Interesting, huh???? You can check out the Revell parts packs here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/revell-parts-packs/ -RRR Edited July 16, 2021 by Rocking Rodney Rat
Mark Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 The 1107 pack was incorporated into the '57 Chevy hardtop kit sometime in the late Sixties. Look at the parts tree for the engine parts in that kit, you can see the parts pack tree minus a few parts.

Go back to the pic of C1107 below, same fuel injector halves as in the Tony Nancy kit, shown here above. Also the chrome air intake scoop in the Tony Nancy kit is real close to the one in C1107. It might not have been cut from the same tooling, Revell was sharing some designs of bits and pieces across a few kits? As I stated, it's interesting..... -RRR
Mark Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Revell reused patterns for a lot of parts back then, especially engine parts. The parts pack engines like the Chevies and Buick are very similar to engines used in Revell car kits around the same time. That's a good thing because the parts will interchange as they should.

Mark Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 From the looks of it, the parts pack based car kits will be issued individually instead of as double kits. That might allow Atlantis to improve them: more plated parts (some of the plated parts packs were just molded in silver plastic for the double kits), maybe optional engines, bigger decal sheets.

Sources at Atlantis tell me that the blown early Hemi engine Parts Pack tooling did indeed migrate to the Miss Deal kit, just as we've long suspected, and it no longer exists as a separate, stand alone Parts Pack tool. They do not wish to tear apart the Miss Deal tool, which would be needed to reintroduce the Hemi as a Parts Pack. It sounds as though the Miss Deal tool, intact, will probably reappear as a complete kit at some point in the future (but with a new/different merchandising theme). TIM

A few years back, somebody on eBay was selling what appeared to be sets of parts pulled from the old tool, in white plastic. I bought a couple.
