I got this from a fellow forum member but can't remember who it was! I also bought an Edsel from him, both kind of hard to find here, so thanks mate, looking forward to building the Edsel. I've got the Starliner body painted and started the BMF, there is a LOT of BMF on this one! The colour is Champagne Gold with Olympic Gold roof. The interior will also be a mix of both these colours.

This is a great kit and I look forward to seeing you put your touch on this. Always thought this was one of the better looking Ford designs from that era. A lot of engine options and I think any left over parts can be used to enhance the Edsel engine as well.

You couldn't have picked harder colors to work with but it looks like you're doing well with them. Looks great so far Gareth.

It is dificult visualising these two shades of gold and how the interior will work with it. It'll work... I think, haha!

It is a stunning looking car. Another of my favourite looking '60 Fords is the Fairlane and Galaxie.

BMF done, finally! I originally did the door cards two tone gold, same as the exterior, but the colours were so similar you couldn't really see the two different shades. The seat inserts on the real car look to be a kind of Tartan cloth, good luck replicating that! so I'll probably do the seats in white with gold inserts. The dashboard in this kit is beautiful so I took some extra time to detail it, pedals could do with some toning down and detailing though. The chassis is going black on this one cos I run out of paint to do the overspray I usually do. I'm not buying a whole can of aerosol only to use a couple mg of the contents, Lol.

Interior looks nice. The cloth inserts that Ford used on their top line Starliner was unique but very good looking. Maybe try masking off the cloth portions and due sort of a splater paint effect.? I would try it on a plastic spoon first, just an idea.

Thanks guys. Got a bit more progress done. Body is lacquered and the interior is almost completed, I've just the steering wheel and column left to put in. I was about to assemble the wheels, I even painted them and were ready to go, but I found they're too wide for the stock tyres. Just shave them down a bit, easy I thought, but no, the little hub that holds the wheel backplate to the kingpin would need shaving down too. I'd have to permanently glue the wheels on solid if I did that, so instead, I cut the centre out of the wheel itself as it'll be covered by a hubcap anyway. The backplates can now be trimmed down and the hubs will be hidden by the hubcaps. Happy days!

Nice and clean!  The two tone choices look unique and I like that.

Thanks, Rich. The two shades of gold were hard to work with. Finding the right combination for the interior colours that would work with the exterior colours was a challenge.

Another one done for the shelf... if I had any shelves that is! Man, this is a cracker of a kit by AMT, very nice mould with excellent detail and very easy to build, I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for following along guys,  I'll post more pics later in completed section.

Spare engine bonus in this kit! There's a second radiator support there too for some reason, could come in handy for an old promo style Ford kit maybe. What an awesome kit, one of Round2's best I think.

One reason I use craft acrylics for most interiors I do.  They're super easy to blend to get the color you're looking for, and a coat of flat clear gives just enough of a scale vinyl like shine IMO.  Whatever you used ended up with a great interior Gareth ?

Another one of your great looking builds. You mention the extra parts in this kit. When AMT made the first version it was a showroom stock only with no extra parts. After a time they offered the 2 in 1 version with the additional parts and has always been the more desirable of the two kits for that reason. Round 2 reissued this kit and put all of the 2 in 1 parts in for which we all should be thankful.

I keep meaning to pick up some acrylic paints. The way I did the interior is similar to how I do vinyl roofs, I hold the aerosol a good few feet away from the part and dust it on for a light texture.

Thanks, Dave. Yes, Round2 definitely have my two thumbs up for this kit. I'm surprised to see so few of them, it's an excellent kit. When I bought this I did think initially it was an old promo style mould until I opened the box, I'm thinking maybe that's why it's not a commonly seen build.

Fantastic!  I love the front grill detail.

Thanks, Michael. The grill is very well moulded, the blackwash sits in the detail nicely.

A lot of these were built here on the Forum when it first was released and a few since the reissue but so many other kits have been issued or reissued since I'm afraid many have more or less forgotten about this one. I still think this and the '62 Pontiac Catalina kits were AMT's best efforts. I have always wondered what they could have offered if AMT hadn't fallen on hard times.
