What’s the best way to tackle this? I want to put the tires from the AMT ‘67 pro street Chevelle under a Revell 5 window coupe. Or is there a kit out there that would be a better starting point? This will be a street machine, not a racecar.
Thanks in advance, Greg.

You'll have to tackle reworking the '32 chassis yourself, as there aren't any Deuce kits with a pro street chassis setup.  Find magazine or online articles for reference, and do what they did, only smaller.

You mention the '67 Chevelle Pro Street tires, do you have the whole kit or suspension? Are you thinking of narrowing the differential with some of the rear tires under the body or a standard width rear end and the tires outside of the body ?

Thanks Mark. That’s what I was wondering. I have downloaded a few good pics and articles on the subject already.

Hi David. I have two complete kits that I bought mainly for parts. I want to tub it, with a narrowed rear, and tuck the tires in so they fit inside the stock fenders, or maybe a set of custom wider bobbed fenders?

The pro street look would dictate stock fenders all around, with the rear tires tucked in.  You might not go super big with the rear tires, as the diameter of some of them probably won't work with the rear fenders.

One kit I'd take a look at would be the Revell pro street '41 Willys coupe.  The rear tires are big yet not gigantic, part of that rear frame section might just work with the Deuce frame, and the 392 Hemi is a street version...street blower setup and block hugger headers should work with the '92 in the 5W coupe kit.

Those Chevelle tires are going to be quite large under a 32, but will work. Here is a pic of a 32 frame for ref.

If you have a AMT 57 Chevy street machine, it has a nice set of rear half rails that could be worked into the 32 frame..

Hope this helps

I agree with Mark on the '41 Willys chassis. May be that you could use the entire chassis under it with some modifications.

No, not the whole frame.  The Deuce frame is needed with the stock fenders, as the area between the body and running boards IS the outside of the frame rail.  The Willys kit frame, in some cases with tweaks to the outer most rails, will work under an Austin body.  I think I tried it under a '33 Willys body too, I might be wrong but I remember it being workable for that too.

Thanks All. This is just an idea I’ve had churning around in my head since seeing some pics on the netE7C47C8C-7BA7-40D4-AB56-FA981D5ACE68.jpeg.eb2108b963fb393f3d76431f39dba6ba.jpeg

I want to build a hot rod kind of vehicle, so I am not locked into anything in particular.

Hi Greg, “pro street” always gets my attention. Perry’s resin has a couple of chassis’s that might help.I have never dealt with them, so I can’t speak to quality of their product. One is for the 41 Willy’s, the other for an Anglia. These may not work for your build, but maybe will give you some ideas.

For tires, you may want to look at the smaller rear tires from the old Monogram sprint car kits. Unfortunately, that would require two kits… fairly sure someone would make aftermarket items.
I used them on my Anglia.278BE92A-AD4C-4A85-9439-637D9FCC514A.thumb.jpeg.8432ede3fa91bfb3ed1b59fc46f34e38.jpeg

Hope that helps, and you can bet I will be watching for this one in the WIP section!!!

I'll be watching this one as I've been thinking about putting together a tubbed out pro street.  I have a 66 Nova chassis that is already set up for some big ol meats.  Just need a body.

If you do it, be sure to post a build thread. There must be plenty of them out there because they just look so cool! I am surprised there is no kit. If anyone has pics of one, please post it here.

I sure will.  I'm really digging the Anglia that Steve posted a pic of.  If that was a kit I'd have two on order today.

Greg I just checked the Willy's prostreet tires and they fit great under the stock fenders. They are a little to wide but not that much.  It would be just a light tub. I don't have time to measure them now.

Thanks Andy. I’ll check with my LHS next time I’m in there.

Thanks Chris. There was a guy in Australia that was putting together a conversion kit. I don’t know if he ever got it to market?

I haven’t seen that but the chassis looks great. He hasn’t been online in over 12 months and it was finished in 2014 so I’m guessing he didn’t cast them.

The Thunderbird tyres and diff fitted great under the Revell ‘32. The fenders in that kit are one piece so it’s easier to get everything under. The convertible body is obviously different to the 3 window etc. I started working on the tank but gave up when I got to the fire wall. I wanted to keep the hood on and at the time it was more work then I wanted to do.

hmm found more pics maybe it was the twin blower that had me stumped
