cobraman Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 This is built from the newest release of the Cobra . Not a very good kit in my opinion . Built with box only parts . Painted Tamiya light blue and cleared with Duplicolor 1K . Decals were not very good and gave some trouble or the setting solution was too strong for them ? I did add the tire decals . Turned out ok I think but just ok . The knock offs are a bit oversize I would say . 1
FLHCAHZ Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 That looks great! I've never seen on that color, but it suits it nicely. The engine may looks fantastic
Zippi Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Nice looking little Cobra. I really like that color. With the trouble you had and the quality of the kit it turned out pretty nice.
Gramps46 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Thank you Ray for posting your photos. I don't think I had seen one built up yet and it is good to see an OOB completion.
vamach1 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 (edited) Very nice. The GTM kit has the same modified body as the Revell kit even though on the box it shows the stock 289 slab side body. Edited December 17, 2021 by vamach1
cobraman Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 Thanks gents. I will not be buying or building another one of these. 1
Peter Lombardo Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Nice work. I also built this kit and was also disappointed with it. I sent a rather nasty e mail to Revell after I opened the box. They produce the 427 kit in 1/24th but chose to do this one in 1/25th. Why? The engine detail is mediocre and the suspension left a lot to be desired. You did a very nice job on a rather poor kit for this day and age. It is only marginally better than the old 1963 AMT molding.
Classicgas Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Looks great. Is it actually a new tool or is it a repop of someone else's kit? 1
vamach1 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 It’s basically the mostly the original AMT kit with the Sunny 427 retooled body that has cutouts for the side exhaust. It mostly resembles a fiberglass kit 427 body on an original AC chassis. As I mentioned above the GTM kit is very similar but the box art clearly shows the stock 289 body. Not a problem for me as I will use the AMT kit body and save the body for other kit bashing.
cobraman Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 It does strike me as a mish mash of what Rex said. It does have huge knockoffs ! I said Knockoffs guys , get you head out of the gutter. ?
