There is a white w/ patches of color ('piebald') deer that has been seen over the last few years and photographed within a mile of my subdivision, I haven't see it though. I see deer in my yard and the yard behind me pretty frequently.. a few weeks ago one night my cameras picked up a dozen of them milling around my front yard...

Wasn't expecting this many comments on my pictures.

By the way, I don't know about other areas but shooting a white deer is illegal here in Tennessee.

A few more pics for antone interested.

This answers the question if the other deers shun a white one...

Our Turkey flock. Sometimes there are 15-20 out there at once.

I never checked the book for PA. I don't think I could take that shot if it was with it being so rare and all. Besides, my family and friends would would probably not be happy with me if I did and it's gotta be some kind of bad mojo or something to shoot one.

Well I'm no hunter and I have my thoughts about it.  I too enjoy looking at wildlife and  a big animal lover.

Thanks for the comments and other pics!!

Well no deer sighting today.  Every day for several days now a large herd would be up on the hill thats across the street from my house.  A year or so ago a well known country singer bought a large piece of property for him and his buddies for hunting and part of it is the hill.  This morning at around 6 it sounded like a war was in progress. So many people were shooting it almost sounded like an automatic weapon was going off.   I guess what deer survived the slaughter have run off.

One of my favorite family slides: Mom, our '53 Chevy, and a friendly deer - somewhere in Colorado, 1956:

Love the car, Chris!

I would bet, the albino deer are safest when there is snowfall, who's gonna see them then?

I finally found that picture of guy who got the blotchy deer. It had the mirror image patern on the other side. I don't remember this guy's name he is one of my cousins inlaws.20220221_133442.thumb.jpg.60f2ad5a9db6fa00432e58b9f4ed2cae.jpg

Sorry about the side flip. I can't seem to fix it.

He was the only one that got a buck that year but my cousin and I both got a mouse that drove us nuts every night.

If anyone  else is from upstate NY like me, then hearing about white deer is common around Seneca Army Depot. Theres tons of them running around the fields at this closed down military installation. We camped nearby at a state park yrs ago and fondly recall seeing them

Well that sure is interesting.  I'm guessing whichever parent produces the white offspring must be plenty busy?

Possibly something changed their genetics since this depot stored nuclear munitions in several bunkers.

A quick read says the white deer herd are Leucistic, a genetic anomaly causing the hair to grow without its brown pigment, but retain their brown or gray eyes! They actually have public tours now to show the herd.

Not white deer but I decided not to start a new thread for this picture since most likely not too many would be interested.

I just thought it was cool....flock of turkey across the street from our house. They came down from the woods on the hill by rhe house.

I never hunted Turkey but I hear they are really smart. I remember like last year I saw a story on the local news from a neighborhood in South Jersey where there was like 8 of them terrorizing the neighborhood.  People would get out of their cars and they would be attacked before they could get in the house. ?

We have a rather large population of them here in suburbia. They can be kind of skittish, but I have never witnessed aggression. I suspect they are much more acclimated to people than the ones you guys have. They will roost on your roof or your car, and they seem to poop constantly. They know who in the neighborhood has the buggiest/wormiest lawns and make regular visits. I have been seeing a solitary hen on my street for several years during the summer through early fall. Not sure if it is the same one, but she shows up every day at 5:00 PM almost on the dot. Oh, and they don't like their photo taken. It may be because they can't see your eyes when your phone is in front of your face, IDK.
