Looking for ideas on what people are using to store their completed builds. Want to make sure they are visible, but protected from regular dust and such. I have a few of the individual storage things. Was trying to find a glass hutch to use, but the wife has to approve that and that's become impossible.

My wife and I did this project.  I mounted all the flanges and black pipe.  She distressed the boards.  I take each model down periodically and dust with a wide soft makeup brush.  So far so good.

These were filling up fast so I found these acrylic shelves that at mounted between the bottom two shelves.  Worked out pretty good and will order more for the next row.

4 large ones made from 16mm MDF and 6mm glass. And use a lot singles. Currently have materials set aside for a fifth large, will post up when I get around to making it.

No the best pic, but you get the idea.

I have my built models in cases. Some are In acrylic cases on my wall. The rest are in clear stackable cases made by AMT. I have a book shelf with the same stackable cases by AMT and some are in cases from Hobby Lobby..

Picked one of these up off of Amazon back in February 2020:

Amazon.com: 1:24 Scale Toy Cars Wheels Model Car O Scale Train Display Case Cabinet Wall Rack Hot-HW14 (Black Finish) : Home & Kitchen

Holds about 20 1/25 scale cars.  Have been pretty happy with it, and I think I need another.

For my 1/25 scale trucks, I used these on a shelf: 1:18 Oversized Scale Diecast Case - 15-1/2″ x 7″ x 6″ - 576c (pioneerplastics.com)

They work well, and you can (or could) get them at Hobby Lobby.  I do need to find something for my 1/144 scale airliners, though.

Also what can be done to remove dust from the kits setting on an open shelf?

Somebody above mentioned a soft makeup brush. Yup.

And gently blow on 'em as you brush.

EDIT: If you happen to use weathering powders, chalks, etc., a set of makeup brushes of varying width and stiffness is ideal.

Have Carney cases on the wall that hold 24 cars each.

On top are some AMT cases .

On the desk are old Johan cases.

Have about 24 more of the Johans that I need to polish before using them again.

Also have about 12 of the Lindberg chrome bottomed cases with Nascars in them still stored away.

Love that you still use the old Testors Paint carousel with the testors paint (and testors tube glue).  Brings me back to my childhood.  not sure if you airbrush, etc, but it's nice to just use the basics for modelling.

No airbrush here. No real place to use it the last several places we lived.

Just step out the back door, make sure the neighbor lady don't have her windows open and start spraying!(weather permitting)

Last place we had a carport with our mobile home that worked great, now we are in  55 and up apartment complex so I'm limited of my outside paint booth!LOL
