carl63_99 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Do the usual body prep and prime. I used Duplicolor silver over that. Airbrushed three coats of the Alclad. Do NOT try to clearcoat, it will dull the rainbow effect. Then on to finishing the model. I have a Corvette ZR-1 engine that I've been looking for a home for ever since the car it was in got wrecked. It fits nice here. Then either creagers or 5-slot mags, haven't decided which just yet. 3
rightrudder Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Cool effect! Crazy what paints can be made to do.
deuces wild Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Most definitely something different....?
Oldcarfan27 Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 How durable is the Alclad without clear?
Erik Smith Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Black steelies would look good. Hehe.  Very cool paint.Â

THEY say it holds up to masking. But one test body I did it striped right off when I tried masking tape. I plan to go very careful on the window trim masking. Also, I did use clear on the Porsche 918 and it really killed the prism effect, probably cutting it back 40% from uncleared. At this time, I'm not recommending clear.
Spottedlaurel Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Nice effect. Good luck with the window masking. I put an LT5 engine into one of these last year, it fitted very nicely.
carl63_99 Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 Engine test fit. I need to trim some on the engine bay, but it fits. Then I can rework the exhaust.
Zippi Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 That's pretty kewl looking. I like the ZR-1 Corvette engine.
carl63_99 Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 I really like the Molotow chrome paint pens. It took me about ten minutes to do the interior chrome trim. I flocked the bottom part of the door to be carpet, need another spray of paint to color it.
carl63_99 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 Interior is almost done. Another day or two and this one will be on the shelf!
