Here’s a fun little kit. Atlantis’ (ex-Lindberg) USS Nautilus Submarine in 1:300th scale. A nice quick build. Painted in Tamiya’s semi-gloss black, from a rattle-can. This kit goes back to the mid-50’s when the Nautilus was brand new, and US Navy wasn’t interested in releasing much info on their first atomic submarine. So its not 100 percent accurate.

Was that Lindberg or Aurora originally?

This one is the Lindberg kit. Aurora, Lindberg, and Revell all tooled up kits of the Nautilus about the same time. DemBrudders.com has a good history on all three kits, and a good review on the present Atlantis kit. Plus some info and pictures of the real sub. It’s well worth going to their site and checking it out. They review lots of different model kits there. But not many car kits.

Hey, thanks for that info and the heads up on that website! Lots of cool stuff to peruse there. BTW, nice job on your sub! I have a soft spot for old kits, nostalgia I guess. I've picked up quite a few Lindberg plane kits, and a couple of old Revell, AND, I have a couple of sub kits, too! I found the Revell German sub that features a cut-away option at a hobby store a couple years back for cheap (old stock), and the Polar Lights Seaview from Voyage to The Bottom of The Sea. ( The smaller first release)

Yea, DemBudders is a great website. Well worth the visit. I too have a soft spot for those old kits. Lindberg planes. Aurora monsters and other movie and TV based kits. Including the good old Seaview. I have both the Aurora/Polar Lights and the Moebius smaller versions. Fun stuff. Even if accuracy is not the best.

I’d love to find one of the old Polaris subs kits, showing the interior, put out by Renwall first, then later Revell.

I was assigned to the TINOSA, PARGO, COMSUBRU 8, SEADEVIL, and NEVADA.  The Nautilus is now a museum outside of Sub Base New London.

I LIKE YOUR MODEL!

DemBudder’s show pictures of the Nautilus as she is now on their web site.

And thanks for the like.

Beautiful sub build! A true trend setter in the sub world. Had that one when I was a kid. Am just starting a 1/72 U Boat build with all the internal compartments. Kind of daunting, but a good change of pace when the dreaded builder's block rears it's ugly head!

Those who know me well and still admit it will tell you that I have a fondness for submarines named Nautilus. Very nice build. Thank you for posting it.

Pretty cool, and looks like it was an easy, fun build. Model on! B)

Always good to get your opinion Snake. And your right, it was a fairly easy build. It’s nice to build something that simple from time to time. This is one where paint makes a difference.

Nice looking build. As an ex submariner, I always appreciate this type of model although I haven't built any submarines.?
