raisin27 Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 Completed the Freightliner. Have to say this kit is nowhere near the nightmare build that I was led to believe it would be. The three piece cab was probably the biggest issue I had to deal with. When I filled and sanded the roof seam it took all the rivet details with it. I replaced them with some archer rivets as someone on here suggested and I think it turned out ok. I did scratchbuild the muffler and the mirrors. Thanks for looking. 2
Doug 1061 Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 Looks nice. these AMT truck kits all have their quirks but the do build up well.
yh70 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 (edited) great job.. i have heard that for many years. i think builders are just scared if the cabs have more than one piece. i never had a problem with building the freightliner or any of the truck kits u had to build the cab.. DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Excellent work!! I like the green CF trucks better than the white ones myself!
happy grumpy Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 great build and great pictures, the wide angle shots makes it look big.

raisin27 Posted March 6, 2022 Author Posted March 6, 2022 Went to the MDA Show In Roanoke yesterday. Close but no cigar! Actually I was quite flattered as I thought there were some pretty awesome trucks there.
'70 Grande Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 Congrats on that 2nd Place finish; I'd be very proud of that! Your rear view mirrors look so simple yet so realistic, can you provide us with some pointers on how you scratch built them?

I used 1mm brass rod for the mounts, evergreen plastic strip and .015 aluminum rod for the main mirror along with mirror finish foil for the glass. Thank you
raisin27 Posted April 19, 2022 Author Posted April 19, 2022 Attended the IPMS show near Indianapolis over the weekend. Was shocked that my Freightliner was awarded 1st place in the Commercial vehicles class. 1
