Nosferatu Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I’m starting this one. I took an older build of a 1939 Ford pickup and tore it down for this. I’m looking to replicate this 5
NOBLNG Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) I LIKE IT! That will be a very cool looking wrecker.? What are the wheels and tires from? Edited May 12, 2022 by NOBLNG
misterNNL Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 I've got some warm cookies and a cold glass of milk ready for this show. I'll be tuned in for sure. What boom system will you be using?
Zippi Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 The 39 wrecker is looking pretty good. I like the two tone color on the wrecker your going to replicate.

Paul Payne Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Please replicate the boom in the 1:1 photo! Way cool and makes that rig!
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Really really really like this project. Thanks for the wheels/tires link too; just what I've been looking for.
Nosferatu Posted May 12, 2022 Author Posted May 12, 2022 Thanks for the kudos and encouragement! I see one issue when comparing the picture and the mock-up I am seeing that the distance between the front and rear fenders in the pic is longer than the distance in the mock-up. I think I may have to extent the frame I also figured out a way to replicate the boom with the bent angle iron. Dave

NOBLNG Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Scenes Unlimited makes really nice stuff. I have ordered from them a couple of times.

Nosferatu Posted May 13, 2022 Author Posted May 13, 2022 I extended the chassis and I think it looks better now.

Nosferatu Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 I did a bit more work to this. Built the rear bed box and cut the fenders into it. I still need to adjust the stance. Thanks for looking. Dave
dino246gt Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Excellent progress! That thing is going to look so cool!
Nosferatu Posted June 3, 2022 Author Posted June 3, 2022 Thanks for your kind comments! I really appreciate them. I did a bit more work on the bed. I added a bed interior. I also put the first coat of gold on the wheels, they aren't glued so they are a bit askew. The fenders are all puttied and I have added half round to them for the pads. I started the boom using flat styrene. There's a lot of bracing to go. Thanks for looking Dave
mchook Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Great job! That boom is not an easy one to pull off and it's looking nice. Keep up the great work.
bisc63 Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 High quality scratch-building happening! Looking forward to more.
Nosferatu Posted June 6, 2022 Author Posted June 6, 2022 Thanks again guys for your comments. The boom is all done except for the sanding and finishing touches. I used 40 pieces of styrene and one chain for this. Thanks again for looking. Dave 1
Zippi Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 That boom setup looks really sharp. I'm liking this build.
