pack rat Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) Recent discussion in another thread re these kits inspired me to dig these pics out. I'm the original owner of the '69. I disassembled and restored it 30-some years ago. I purchased the Superfly in a collection of built-ups. When I picked up a can of Testors Electric Pink lacquer at my LHS I figured it was made for this kit so I restored it as a fun, off-the-wall project. The wheels and hood ornament are from the parts box. As discussed in the other thread, I think the stock GP would be a good re-issue subject, although coming up with any marketable building variations aside from factory stock might be tough, which doesn't help it's case. A reissue of the Superfly?......no (just my opinion). Edited June 26, 2022 by pack rat 3
TNT Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 They look great. I had this kit back in the late 70s. Would love another and a stock GP. Love them mile long hoods. Nice job.
ea0863 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Love them both! The GP reminds me of my first car - a '70 Catalina with a 400 engine that got 3 miles per gallon on a good day!
Robberbaron Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Mike, love the '69. Nice job on the Superfly as well. Think that's as good as anyone can make that one look ?
espo Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Great looking paint finish and clean trim on the Super Fly. I agree with you on the hopes of a stock Grand Prix being reissued, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that ever happening.
Marc Weller Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Outstanding job. The vinyl room treatment is perfect. Can you share your technique ?
unclescott58 Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Both are cool. But, given the choice i would never buy the Superfly version. But, I’d jump at a chance to buy a stock GP. How about it Round 2?
RAMBENNA Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 love them both, great job. the GP is my holy grail, would love a reissue
Bills72sj Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Very nice builds. I am still looking for a 69 to add to my 70, 71 and 72s. (at a reasonable price)
