ShawnS Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Hi all, Here is the Datsun 240K that finished 7th in the 1974 Bathurst 1000 driven by Stewart McLeod and Doug Whiteford. It's the old Aoshima kit with decals from my own artwork printed by Custom Hobby Decals. I built it because it's different from my usual touring car builds and it's just something I liked the look of. Cheers ShawnS 9
espo Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Beautiful looking finishes. Looks just like the black and white picture but in color.
TonyK Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 That is an excellent replica! And anything dealing with Bathurst is exciting to me.
TarheelRick Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Very nice build, the paint work and everything about it is superb. Like the '63 Ford taillights. When I saw the title, the "K" did not quite register and I was expecting a "Z" car.
majel Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Fantastic job! Very cool model of a subject not normally seen.
ShawnS Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 Thanks guys. 15 hours ago, TarheelRick said: When I saw the title, the "K" did not quite register and I was expecting a "Z" car. Yeah I know what you mean. Datsun didn't bless us here in Australia with fancy names like Skyline, Sunny, Bluebird etc.. we only got numbers 1000, 1200, 1600, 120y, 180B, 200B, 240K etc. It has led to a fair bit of confusion over the years.
Bruce Scully Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Another one of your top class builds , looks so right.
PatW Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Superb! I always love watching OZ races on TV from here in the UK.
skymnky721 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Looks like a mini-Torino just a bit,,nice lookin racer!
250gilly Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Hi Shawn, Stewart McLeod was my uncle and the model looks great. Just wondering if this model is for sale? Stewart was just inducted into the Australian Rally Hall of Fame last week. thanks Gill
Dragline Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Time well spent at the bench I would say. Very well done.
HDRAus Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Hi Shawn, I am the current owner of this car. Would love to discuss a commission for another one of these models. You have done an amazing job and recreated her in stunning detail. Fantastic work! Adam
