I would love to jump in on this group build as well, if it is still possible. Doing a little plastic surgery has been on my mind lately, so I would like to build a 1961 Ranchero upgraded to todays standards with a 2013 Mustang suspension and the 5.0 from the kit. I'll also blend in the bucket seats and upgrade the interior. Starting shots attached below. Now we're talking. Love my Falcons. I have built three different ones with two more planned for the future. I will be following this with great interest, and be adding a third to my build list. ?
Spottedlaurel Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 More progress on the Accord/NSX mash-up: With the floorpan and engine/suspension coming on nicely it was time to start thinking about the bodywork. With the mid-engine I need to get some air in the back, so I found these vents from an unlikely source. Any guesses?! On my recent Mazda RX-7 build I trimmed the bottom of the spoiler. I realised it was just right for adding a bit of depth to the Accord, so that got attached. Just need a bit of finessing. Suspension completely installed, along with the V6 and transmission. I cut off the stock airbox and added this resin intake. Have also started on the interior, although at the moment it's more cutting and trimming than assembling anything. The bulkhead was split from the interior tub and I removed the sides as I'll be fitting the Accord's door trims. The NSX tub is being raised so the dashboard is at the right height. A little more done here, including installation of the radiator. With some decent weather yesterday I got some initial coats of primer laid down. I can see a few things that need further attention, but nothing too bad. Trial-fitted the smoked rear glass here (it has duplicate sets of clear and tinted). Wheels are roughly in the right place. Widened the existing exhaust cut-out and formed a new one. Also added random bits of styrene to locate the rear of the floorpan. The view underneath. Was pleased with how much it's moved forwards, I can't see anything too complicated in the near future. 3

Koellefornia Kid Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 I really like where your build is heading, Pat! Love those fat fenders!
Koellefornia Kid Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Decided to step into the ring with an amt/Ertl '65 Ford Galaxie: I want to do something like Dave Kindig's Convertible, a little bit different and as a coupe but I might want to try a similar paint scheme: First of all I'll smooth the body. All emblems, scripts and handles will have to go... So, where' my sanding paper? 3

Koellefornia Kid Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 The body has been smoothed: Chose this set of 19/21" Salt II wheels by Steve Zimmerman. I think they really suit the Galaxie: 5

Keef Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Sorry I haven’t posted anything yet, work and life get in the way sometimes. I managed to sneak in a little bench time today and got a basic mockup of the suspension. May lower the front a little bit, unsure at this point. But anywho, here’s the beginning of my build. 4
Koellefornia Kid Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Thinking about some extra horsepowers for the Galaxie I had the idea to use the complete engine, chassis and drive train from a Nascar racer, so I got me this Coors Light Thunderbird kit... ...and noticed that the wheelbase was too short: So I had to increase the length of the chassis Should fit know... 3
MeatMan Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 (edited) Coming down to the wire on my 918. Got a rolling chassis so I did a pre-paint mockup. The wheels may not be final though but they came out great with the black background. I still want to add seat belts to the interior. As for the paint, it will be HOK Burple candy base.
