Nice to see the kit out! So sad they went that direction with the chassi! I can’t stand that type chassi. I don’t mind the no engine but man! One piece chassi is just so boring to me.

Agreed.  I'm sure I'll pick one up - and I don't mind it being a curbside, but bummer on that chassis.

Anyone know a good TBI V6/automatic in 1/25?

This would make a cool toy truck for a model...you know, homeowner or someone who wants a nice truck for more of a hobby-horse than a work-horse.

You could use the engine from either of the s10 kits from Revell (1st gen) or AMT (2nd gen). The 1st gen would be more accurate for what you are looking for, but the 2nd gen engine could be used if someone wants to make a newer version with the dually grille (the intake would need to be modified).

Edit: I'm not sure if the current S10 release has the stock engine parts, or if it only has the Syclone parts.

Okay...grab the one-ton, swap it over to the newer dash to match the S-10/Sonoma engine, build a slightly older Big Dooley.

Also a valid approach. I was also thinking about possibly modifying a V8 intake system.

I bought two on Friday. Threw the first one together over the weekend, cracked open the second one earlier tonight. Second one had a bonus extra dash loose in the bag with the one still on the sprue.

I wish it had accidentally included better wheels and tires but... whatever. ?

Somewhere, an unsuspecting modeler is opening their kit and asking “Where’s the dash?!?!”

Now that this kit is out, will any of the 3D printer guys be tooling up the W/T grille, stock wheels and bench seat?

Iceman Collections is working on a W/T grill. I would love other stock wheel options, a bench seat, and mirrors. Maybe @Oldmopars & @Texas_3D_Customs can help?

I have a extended cab and regular long bed which are promos and a built stepside which I bought some years ago but no short bed. However, now that it's out, I'll snag the shortbed sometime this weekend.

Exactly what is wrong with the wheels?

I know the tires in HPI Guy's review look truly awful, but the rims looked okay.

The wheels look small, supposed to be stock size 15' x 7" which is tiny by today's standards.  I measured a set today, they are 15.12mm x 8.0mm based of the '92 promo wheels which are a little smaller than the original kit version wheels.  In hindsight I could have gone a little bigger and or offered some optional modern custom wheels and tires.

That's basically what I did ?

On the other hand, why limit it to modern wheels and tires? Some period 16" or 17" Boyds or Budnik style billet wheels could have been something an owner would have added in back in 1992.

I don't know how many spinoffs for this you have planned, but a period custom "sport truck" version would hardly be the worst idea. Aforementioned period wheels and tires, smooth bumper, a billet grille and steering wheel, maybe a roll pan. Maybe even a ZR1 roll pan with taillight filler panels. I don't know. Go crazy and throw in a cowl hood and a phantom grille. I have a feeling quite a few people are going to build these like that anyway, why not make it easier? Something like what Testors tried with the Eddie Van Halen truck but without the unfortunate body proportions. All a builder would need to do beyond box stock would be to remove the side trim and trim the ride height posts.

WT grille is out there. Have printed a few already, and they look really good.

Lots of wheel options in the 3D world too. From steelies to big custom wheels.

Haven't seen any seats though, but then I haven't really looked.

I also bought two. One has the regular cab glass, one has the extended cab glass. ?
