Can't believe I've been holding onto this one for almost 25 years. Where does the time go? ?

Anyway, seems to be a few people on here having way too much fun working on these old E-body Caddys, so I had to have some fun too.

I am planning a full custom one in the future. The bumpers for that one are not back from being re-plated yet so I dug this one out in the meantime.

This one will be mostly stock as the body's pretty nice aside from a couple tire marks. Got new bumpers for it from Modelhaus years ago.

I was originally going to redo it in candy root beer over a gold base but the very dark blue [looks grey or black in the pics] has kinda grown on me. I have a bottle of a very dark navy blue pearl nail polish that I'm going to use on it instead and save the candy drown for the full custom.

Ok, so, I made some progress this afternoon.

EasyOff wouldn't touch the paint. Tried to strip it years ago with no luck so I tried some %99 rubbing alcohol on a paper town and with a little rubbing I had it mostly stripped in about an hour.

A couple more before pics with the Modelhaus bumpers.

And clean enough for primer, which it's in now.

Hi Steve!

Great start, bravo! Will-you keep it FWD? Just curious...

Yes, this one will be close to stock.

I will be doing another one in the future that well be a full custom on a '66 Riviera chassis.

I would love to find a Johan 67-69 Eldo for decent price!

'67-'68 for me.  Wish I made the kind of money that would allow me to buy one of these.

So, the paint is on. Duplicolor charcoal primer with Tamiya TS 51 blue metallic and their clearcoat. Hasn't been polished out yet.

Hi Steve, great looking paint! So in the pictures it looks purple-ish in one shot, totally blue in the other. I assume it’s more blue than purple. “Both” colours look fantastic, and smooooth. I’m lucky to get them that smooth AFTER polishing….

Thanks Steve, I kinda got lucky with that one, it turned out pretty good but still has some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in it here and there. The color is about 1/2 way between the two shades in the pics.
